Here you go! I suppose, based on the comments, that everybody knew this song was coming. Well, here’s your Christmas present a week early.
It’s time to boogie, and here’s a song that’ll definitely get you in that mood!
Boogie Shoes - KC & the Sunshine Band
This was originally on their first album, but wasn’t released as a single. It was the B-side of “I’m Your Boogie Man,” but not as the “plug” side.
Then came Saturday Night Fever. Heck, who didn’t want a song on that soundtrack?!? (Answer: Boz Scaggs. He decided against letting them use “Lowdown” on the soundtrack in favor of having it appear on another film’s record, Looking For Mr. Goodbar. Oops.) So, as part of the mania that was that soundtrack, “Boogie Shoes” was released as a single in 1978.
You know what? It was the lowest-charting single off that soundtrack! It only peaked at #35. It must have been a “Bee Gees or nothing” time with the popularity of those songs.
However, the song’s popularity endures (as you’ve noticed from the requests for this song to appear). It’s 50 years old now, and still makes you dance.
Boogie Shoes
Written by Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch
Recorded by KC & the Sunshine Band
From KC & the Sunshine Band, 1975
(Also from Saturday Night Fever (soundtrack), 1977)
I can’t wait ‘til I see you again:

I lived in CA for a short time and I remember the supervisor coming into the room I worked in (I was a Data Entry Operator) who quickly turned our radio off because of this, I can't blame her, how the heck do ya do the work while having this song playing and all ya wanna do is dance.

YES! Day made!

I first heard this song in “Sports Night”, that short lived sitcom by Aaron Sorkin that was supposed to be a thoughtful behind the scenes at an ESPN type network. They played this song, and I looked it up and played it over and over again. It’s still fantastic!

That’s why I’m here…to make everyone’s day with a good song. But since my half of the list is nearly all country, I’m making everyone’s every other day.
Glad you enjoyed it!

That is a song you just can't sit still listening to...I have done the Chair Dance in so many places. Probably more than I actually danced to it.
