I Love Lucy is a sitcom that ran from 1951 to 1957. It centered around Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball), her husband Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz) and their landlords and best friends Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance) and Fred Mertz (William Frawley).
They lived in a New York City apartment; and Lucy's husband was a singer/bandleader in local nightclub. Lucy was always trying to finagle her way into show business, much to the dismay of her husband.
One of the iconic episodes that some of you may remember is "Lucy Does a TV Commercial". She is pitching a tonic called Vitameatavegamin and from the continuous takes of her sampling the concoction, becomes drunk. This episode is considered to be the best episode of all seasons of the show.
Another memorable episode concerns Lucy working at a chocolate candy factory. She gets behind in packaging and starts eating the candy to try and catch up.
I Love Lucy was the most watched show in the United States for 4 of the 6 seasons...quite a record!

I used to love watching I Love Lucy when I was a kid. She was so funny, even if the show was a little outdated by the time I started watching it. And even more impressive than her hilarious tv show was the fact that she became quite the Hollywood business mogul, something unheard of for women in her era.

They had a mock-up of the set at the Lucille Ball Museum in Jamestown, NY. Slapstick is timeless, and she was so good at it.

That show was so classic. I loved it as did most. I was just reading an article about Rob Reiner who was doing improv on the set of the show The Mother In Laws produced by Desi Arnaz. Arnaz was furious with him for doing so and pushed him against a wall. I guess Desi was serious about his scripts.

I wasn't born yet when that show was on. I did see a few reruns of it, though.
