I just discovered that blueberries aren't the perfect fruit for everyone.

I was looking up the word punnet because Judyev was talking about a punnet of squash recently. It sounds like punnet, in the UK, is mostly used like a small basket to hold strawberries or other small fruit. As I checked out more of the page I saw something related to blueberries. Blueberries are high in vitamin K and can block the effects of blood thinners and cholesterol meds. "You should avoid eating blueberries with dairy (milk, yogurt) as it can block antioxidants, and with certain meds (blood thinners, some blood pressure drugs) due to vitamin K/drug interactions; also, don't pair with high-sugar items to avoid negating benefits, or potentially with bananas in smoothies due to differing digestive needs". I found this interesting because a lot of yogurt come with blueberries. It's a good thing blueberries aren't my husband favorite fruit as he's on blood thinners. Me? I love them and eat them plain from a bowl.

@MarshaMusselman - People who use blood thinners should be very careful eating food rich in Vitamin K, but most people believe that spinach, kale, Brussels sprout and broccoli are healthy and they can be eaten in large quantities, They are not for everyone.

It could also be that if those on the specific meds are that fruit that they'd have to eat a ton and most people don't.

I noticed on my thyroid medication is specifically tells me not to eat grapefruit. I hope doctors give their patients a heads up if it’s a really big risk for blueberries to be in one’s diet.

I'm sure my husband never got that instruction and maybe it's not well known. He doesn't like them much so that works. I wouldn't be happy if I couldn't eat them. I can't have grapefruit either with a med I take for a different ailment.

Interesting. I've never really like them but will eat them once in a while. Now I'll have to check out more about them before I buy another one of those frozen fruit bags that include them.

That could be or else many of the scientists that give us this information are making a lot of mistakes

I heard years ago that celery was good for helping too keep blood pressure regulated but I know people that eat that regularly and still need to be on blood pressure meds. It could be that a person would have to eat them constantly for the good or bad benefits.

Isn't that interesting? Vince has been warned about staying away from grapefruit because of the medications that he is on but I didn't know about blueberries.

For the rest of us humans it's a great choice. But I never knew that it's better that some don't eat them.
