What I'm Truly Thankful For

I am setting here in a warm apartment looking out at the day and thinking about what will transpire in a couple of days. We don't have a lot of presents to open infact there's not any, but we have a lot to be thankful for. We have a warm place to live and a huge turkey for a nice dinner on the 25th. I have a lot to be thankful for. I feel I am relatively healthy for my age. I'm 74 and have no horrible to disease as yet determined by doctor. My kids are healthy and the same for them. We have the basics and could really do with an upgrade on living room and bedroom furniture but until the springs actually pop out of my bed I won't yelp too loudly. I have had such a good life. I remember a fabulous childhood and had a great relationship with both my sets of grandparents. Some lovely memories of both. My mom and dad were good hearted folk, and I am proud to call them mine. I've had some grand adventures in my life. I was born into the world in the 50s when the world was not as hateful as it has become these days. A time of new inventions like the television. The live performances and the technology in its infancy. I enjoyed the hippy world of the 60s with peace, free love and rock'n'roll. I am proud to say I got to see the epic bands at their prime. I can recall setting on a huge poof pillow on the concrete floor of my friend's garage and listening to Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention and other such craziness. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and so many others. I got to travel many of the western a few of the southern states with the carnival and was nearly sold into slavery by a crazed carnival barker. I did my bit with speed and lived to talk about it. Back when it was pure and not made with synthetics and other poisons. The same with two experiences with acid. What stories I could tell. I also got to see Victoria and Vancouver British Columbia in Canada. Was a lovely experience that was. I remember a beautiful castle we visited and breath taking garden. We slept on a small island (Friday in the San Juan Islands)one night and I listened to different types of boat sounds all night. So much to remember. I came home off the road to go to work as a cocktail waitress when I was out one night and the joint needed an extra waitress. I ended working there for 2-3 years and got into drinking. My boyfriend at the time and I were in an accident because he insisted on driving the Corvette he was working on to pick me up one night and the brakes were faulty. I was thrown from the vehicle, and he ended up with a brain stem injury. He lived for 9 days and then had a cardiac arrest. I've had 4 marriages. Most were brought about by my need to learn something from these men. None were for true and lasting love. I've had some great friendships, one of whom was probably the most giving and warm-hearted human I've ever known. Another who totally disappointed me and hurt me for her false accusations at one point. My daughter is probably one of my proudest accomplishments. Although she has her issues, she is also a wonderful human being and I'm glad I had her and that she is a part of my life. It was very difficult raising her due to bi-polar issues and the lack of working medications for the first 15 years or so. Not a fun time for either of us. And my grandson is so very dear to me. He is very gifted. Although he has some psychological issues, he also has some very compelling characteristics. He is very sensitive and can feel entities close by. He is so calm and caring in taking care of the cats. He and his mom are extremely close. He takes very good care of her too. He and I have a very close relationship as well. He and I are both Scorpios. We have a very esoteric, and empathic communication between us. He can hold my hand and give me energy. It's phenomenal. I am also thankful for the friends I have made here on Mylot. I don't know how long this site will remain productive. I don't know what I will do without it to come to each day. It has become a very important part of my day. Thank you, DE, Lenore, Kayla, Eva, Marie, and so many others. I'm kind of a looney old broad but I hope I have brought some laughter and interesting reading to you down through the years I have participated on here. Yes, I have a lot to be thankful for. I hope my memory continues to be good for I don't know what I'd do without these wonderful memories. There's no place like home for the holidays.

This year I at least wish I had one other person but even if I wanted Santa to stop by to chase the blues away, I know that won't happen. Just have to get through the holidays. I do have many blessings like my writing, poetry, health, and a roof over my head,

I think you need to write a book about your life. What a story you could tell.
