Weird Gifts

While I think @xFiacre has one of the best stories recently about weird gifts, my best friend, Naomi, got the weirdest Christmas present I’ve seen this year. She sent me a selfie to show me. Yes, that’s her, and her two new goats. One of her friends knew one of her goats had died (she lives on a bit of acreage, loves animals, and needs help keeping mowing the grass under control. Strangely, of her now 15, goats, she’s only purchased one.) Knowing she was sad about the goat’s death, her friend found a man who had to move, and needed a home for his two goats by this Friday. So, Naomi now has two new cuties to add to the fold!
Any weird gift stories?

What cute goats. So glad she was able to get the goats. I think that is a wondeful gift,

When I was a child, I wanted a microscope and a family friend bought me a toy microscope, I liked it. Not a popular gift, but, interesting. Me and my brother looked at many different things, water drops, food crumps...

What’s funny is, that it is a gorgeous SUV, and it smells like dogs (she’s a nurse, but runs a dog rescue). I cannot ride in it anymore, and insist we drive in my vehicle. My vehicle never smells.
A dwarf goat sounds adorable, although I don’t know about the reality.

She's transporting them inside her vehicle?
One of my brothers bought a Shetland pony as a gift for his toddler one Christmas. He took the rear seat out of his car, put the seat in the trunk and brought the pony home in the back of his car. (I have a picture of it somewhere but can't find it offhand. I'll keep looking for the picture.

I would not like riding anywhere with her.
He was a small pony named Rowdy. He must have been really young. He was our first Shetland pony on the farm when I was a kid. He lived a really long time.

@DaddyEvil I wrote a post one time about how the last time I rode with her I almost threw up. It was so bad, I decided we had to drive my car from now on. It had never been bad until then.
I’m so glad the pony had a good, long life. That makes my heart happy.

A happy ending for both your friend and the goats. No weird stories at this point.

Aw. I don't consider that weird, it's sweet.
This was kind of a practical joke, but I guess you could say it was weird...
Years ago we had a gopher problem. They were really messing up the back lawn. One day my Dad thought he saw movement in the ground out the kitchen window, and went out and got an axe. He raised the ax above where he thought he saw the movement, but when he brought it down he hit, not the gopher, but one of the pipes in the sprinkler system.
My parents had a friend that they knew before I was born, who my brother and I called "Uncle Mike". He was a bit of a practical joker, and somehow heard about my Dad attacking the sprinkler system.
When Christmas came around, he gave my Dad a gift--an axe with a polished-to-a-shine head with a little plaque on the handle that said, "Order of the Ax--Charles Uffelman".

One Christmas Dale gave me 72 individually wrapped chocolate covered cherries. I think I ate every one!
Our best Christmas gift was Kristin, our first grandbaby on Dec 23. In the middle of the NC blizzard of 1989.

No, I can't really think of any weird gifts. But if I lived where I could have farm animals, I would consider a goat or two!

@MarieCoyle Wow! That is so cool, Marie! You should write a post about that someday if you haven’t already.

When I lived in the country I had chickens...my own dogs and had room to foster a dog or two.I had barn kitties, too. After Katrina and all the rescues I helped with, at one point I had 2 parrots, a cockatiel family, strawberry finches, and some other exotic birds. I took them and had most of them for over 6 months--they were rescued and brought north on what we call a rescue pipeline of driver meet-ups for transfers. Then they had to be fostered while it was determined if they had owners, and did the owners have a home yet and did they want them back. I was glad that some of the dogs and kitties, and the birds, were able to go home again. Those who did not have an owner to claim them were adopted out. It was a wild time, but it was fun. I have always loved animals.
