I have been following the Buddhist monks on their march through America. I've mentioned this another time. Such beauty. America needs these fellows. I am not of their faith and yet their steady march brings hope and joy and a little awe to me.
I believe it was Alabama where thousands of everyday people showed up. Those everyday Americans gathered for some moments of silent peace with the monks. The entire idea really wakes my soul. Such a grand event.
The monks goal is to reach Washington D C. I wish the government people there would welcome them with open arms. I wish I wasn't so skeptical. The monks have achieved a huge memorable goal already: uniting people into becoming neighbors that gather to pray and calmly seek peace and joy. What's not to like?

I hope too they receive a positive welcome in Washington, but with you know who in office, (Donnie Darko) it may be a long shot.

@snowy22315 I agree. The monks are reaching the folks that matter, though. It will be interesting to see if Darko will even talk to the monks. Their demeanor is so different/ quiet and dignified than Darko.

@snowy22315 The monks are making a huge impact in Alabama. About a thousand people joined them on Christmas. All peaceful.

A friend of mine is buddist, I'll bet she'd love to meet them but as she once told me, Buddism has many divisions just like Christianity has ..... here the largest christian group is Catholic followed by Jahova Witness then a few Baptists.
Ever since I read about the crusades and the spanish inquisition I have to wonder if christians tend to fight those who do not believe as they do.
One damn fool here in TX posted this as part of his campaign:

@wolfgirl569 Yes. Their dog is adorable. Even though one monk lost his leg, the others walk on.

I read an article earlier that they are being well received from people from all walks of life. Towns are having food for them, spending personal one on one time with them and it all sounds so wonderful. Anything at this point that spreads peace and love is more than fine with me! I hope the rest of the trip is calm and safe for them, and I hope that it ends well...considering where they are going, I am not so sure about that part, but I remain hopeful.
