It was a Hot One Today

Around lunchtime today, I was sitting on the couch watching a replay of the NHL hockey game between the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning, who played last night in south Florida. I didn’t get home from St.Augustine until late last night, so I missed watching it live.
Anyway, as I’m sitting there on the couch, I started to feel a cool draft of air, like someone possibly turned on the ceiling fan. Yet, when I looked up, I saw that the fan was not spinning. It took me a second to realize that our central air conditioning unit had kicked on. Our A/C never runs at this time of year. Sure enough, I checked and saw that it indeed was running. A quick glance at my weather app revealed that it was very warm and muggy outside.
What a bummer! We are supposed to be in winter, with cold temperatures and jackets and snow (ok, well, no snow in Florida), and yet it is baking outside. Is anyone else out there experiencing warmer than usual temperatures?
And the crazy thing is that in just slightly more than 24 hours our temps are going to plunge below freezing.
Winter in Florida always keeps you guessing!

Our high today was 78, with muggy and rainy conditions, but tonight our temps will plummet into the mid 30s.

Yes, we started the day at 65F and hit 70F by noon. Now, at 6:40 pm, it's 28F outside and is supposed to reach 18F by 6 am tomorrow. And then be back around 30F by tomorrow afternoon.

@AmbiePam I never run my heater, even with extended nights below freezing. I think the coldest it’s ever gotten inside our home is around the mid 50s. Perfect temps for snuggling under thick blankets!

We’re gonna get down to 37 tonight, and then tomorrow night down into the mid 20s, so I probably shouldn’t complain too much about the warmth we’ve been experiencing. But still, it’s the point of the fact that it’s supposed to be winter, and we shouldn’t have these hot temps!

Nope it has been pretty chilly here all day, especially when the wind blows..about 47 for a high, we might be about 60 tomorrow, but it will get cold at night and stay cold the rest of the week I think with high winds part of the time.

I like the cold and all, but I don’t mind the warm temps either. I just want consistency. If it gets cold, I want it to stay cold. If it gets hot, I want it to stay hot. I just don’t like the temps bouncy all over the place day by day.

@snowy22315 I’m already stressing about packing for my vacation that starts tomorrow, because we’ll have some freezing days, some mild days, and some warm days. It means I’m going to have to pack more than I care to.

It’s is funny in a way, but there’s a lot of truth to your statement. You just never know what weather conditions you will be facing, so you have to plan for every scenario.

Our weather is often unpredictable here as well. Before the storms hit this afternoon, we reached the unheard of temperature of 70 degrees--in December! And it's now 32...it's supposed to be down to 20. Insane weather!

It's been pretty crazy here, for sure. Currently it's 12 degrees, but tomorrow looks to be 29! A heat wave!

I doubt we’ll see snow anytime in the near future, but we will plummet below freezing for at least 2-3 nights this week.

It only got up into the lower 80s, which really isn’t hot at all, but just the fact that it’s not cold makes me sad.
My thermostat is set at 75, so I shouldn’t have been too surprised the A/C kicked on.

It has been crazy weather so far this year. Here in north Florida, it was cold on Halloween, mild on Thanksgiving, and then hot on Christmas.

@noni1959 Haha, yes we do. I live in north Florida, where it does get cold from time to time during the winter. Our high today was only 53 (finally cooling off after a week of hot temps). Our low tonight is 28. It even snowed here (for about 12 seconds LOL) last year!

It was that way here in Florida too. Warmer than average temperatures. But I remember reading back in October that due to El Niño we were forecast to have a warm winter, so it looks like so far the forecast has been correct.
