Best New Year's Eve

I'm following @AmbiePam 's lead and talking about two of the best New Year's Eve experiences. The first one was some time in between 1966 and 1969. My boyfriend (husband) and I went to his buddy's house for a New Year's Eve party. The guys tend to bunch up; and the girls were sitting on the couch. I was sitting on the arm of the couch. I have a picture of me in a slim pink dress, silver fishnets and silver shoes. Even though the guys were all bunched up, my boyfriend caught my eye and gave me a wink. Now that may not seem like much; but he was acknowledging that he didn't forget about me; and I was so in love with this guy that it made me feel special. I never forgot this. The second one took place in 1969. I had moved out of my parents house and felt like a huge weight had lifted off of my shoulders. My boyfriend (husband) and I went to the same guy's house for a NYE party. We stayed out all night. The freedom that I felt made that night so memorable. I had only been allowed to stay out until 2 on past New Year's Eves. It felt good to not have to worry about getting home. How about you? Photo Credit: Pixabay

I'm glad your two memorable New Years Eve parties happened with your future husband. I had to think about that one when I read her post. My most memorable took place when my children were young. My husband and I liked to play cards and we went to my best friend's home for a night of pinochle. The kids watched a horror movie. I think it was Poltergeist. Not sure. It's the one with the creepy doll. By the time we were ready to leave, we lived only two blocks from each other, so we had walked, it had snowed and was still snowing. Blizzard type. There was a foot of new snow to walk through to get home.

Sounds like a good evening except for the s**w. That makes me cold to think about it.

I do not have a lot of special New Year's Eve Stories. One when I was just out of high school and my boyfriend (later my 1st husband) came over to my family's house and we just stayed up all night and played board games and then went out to breakfast. We did get a prank call that evening but we knew who it was. Maybe I need to save one for Amber's post as well.

It's fun to stay up all night. I remember getting to my boyfriend's (husband's) parents' house just as the sun was coming up.

@celticeagle That's a tough question. He always was a procrastinator. Projects never got done around the house; and he bought a lot of things he never used. I always thought he was kind, a bit quiet, very devoted to me which always is a bone of contention considering what he did. He could be really funny and goofy sometimes which always made me laugh. I don't know. All I know is that when he walked into a room, he made me smile. I was always so happy to see him. I never got bored with him. I still can't believe he's gone.

I mentioned that wild one in New Orleans where we went to a concert then went out into the French Quarter. This past one was memorable because I was home, safe, quiet, enjoying the evening.

@LindaOHio — oh yeah. Cops on horseback simply made sure nothing got out of hand. People were outside of Pat O’Brien’s with their drinks and the cops didn’t stop them. Well-behaved insanity is how I’d describe it. A friend of mine described New Year’s Eve as “amateur night for partying,” but I think people in the Quarter on NYE have Ph.D.s in partying.

@FourWalls Isn't New Orleans one of the places that you can walk the streets with your drinks? We saw a lot of people doing that.

Those are such good memories you have, I believe most of my best New Year's Eves were in Latvia with my husband, At midnight all the neighbors along our suburban street gathered on the road and then we all watched everyone all around set of fireworks and it all blazed in color all around. One of the photos I have of the fireworks,
