I'm still here at the hospital

7 hours later I'm still here in the ER. I've been largely ignored by the nurses. I've had to listen to an obnoxious old man 2 beds over flipping out since I got here. This guy and his wife got here like an hour ago and man they never stop talking. The doctor just came by and said that my Mg and K levels are improved. He wants to give me another bag of the magnesium. I imagine fluids too. He said that he didn't think more bloodwork would be necessary but they would be sending me over to the observation unit when a bed was ready. I don't understand why. What are they going to observe? Me spending more time in bed? Without an updated bloodwork it makes no sense. I asked him if I would be staying overnight so I can plan for work. He said he didn't know. Again I don't get it. I flagged down a girl I saw walk by with trays of food. I am starving. She said she is just waiting to hear from the doctor if I am cleared to eat. I can't see why not. I hope she brings it soon. My stomach is audibly rumbling.

Wow! They kept taking blood samples from Pretty while she was getting potassium to see how her levels were doing. I hope they boot your out of there soon. I'd be sooo bored lying in bed already.

I am not impressed by New Jersey hospitals. Are you actually feeling any better? When they gave me an IV of magnesium it felt like it took a good three days to kick in. And then you also have low potassium. I kind of hope they keep you overnight just to be really thorough. But for goodness sake, it’s about time they feed you!

I don't enjoy being hungry. What were you originally admitted for?

What are you actually suffering from that they are keeping you without food?

I've been in and out enough in the past year to know things like this happen all too often. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and the doctors seem so over loaded with patients that they can't spend the time with a patient that's needed.

I keep hearing about shortages in hospital staff, and this sounds very much like a problem where you were.

That sounds like a miserable way to spend the day. Sorry you had to go through that.

These places can be the pits sometimes when no-one will tell you anything decisive.

I am one who wants to be back home from hospitals ASAP. They should not keep you hungry or atleast inform you why to delay a meal.

It's always a waiting game in the hospital.
