Customer service is getting worse or i'm just realising it now

First, i contacted my bank cause there was some missing data from my mobile banking app. I even took a screenshot. No apologies, they will check. Then they forwarded the issue and asked me is it good now. I only received thank you from them cause i contacted them, their words. And i regret i thanked them too. I wish i didn't cause they didn't even apologize for messing up. Second, my tv and internet provider. I changed my email address and contacted them about the new one, where they can send me digital bills from now on. No, they ask me to fill out the form and all,a long one. I won't do it;i didn't have to before, why now. I will activate my old yahoo account instead. Geez, just changing the address and they are receiving my money, not the other way round. I told them i am disappointed how they treat their old users. Is it really that hard to apologize or that hard to actually help their customers and why are rules changing constantly? I know it's not easy working with people but some firms are having way more attitude than others.

When I made a complain in Switzerland, the manager always contacted me to apologize for the problem I had encountered reassuring that he would have checked the matter. This is not an admission they were wrong, it's simple politeness, you had a problem dealing with their company and they apologize. Here in Italy it depends, I had a problem with the app of my bank, they contacted me to solve the problem. No need to apologize in this case, I was the one unable to fix the problem.

@valherma00 I was not really a very important client, we lived there before moving back to my Italy. Swiss Managers try to show how good and polite they are. It's a small rich country, they can afford to please their clients.

i didn't know you're that important client o, switzerland, a land of good manners, i feel. i actually got a call but i didn't know from who it was. then i received email again, saying i can call them or i can fill out the form. without mentioning was this a practice before or not. ah.

I used to be a Customer Service person. We were told never to apologize for anything because that's an admission of wrong-doing... The companies NEVER want to admit they did anything wrong. Your ISP doesn't KNOW it's you until you fill out the papers proving who you are and you are authorized to change something on your account. It could be somebody trying to steal your account and get free internet/television service.

you're my insider then i watched so many movies where i could see that apologizing makes you weaker and that everyone avoids it but i thought that's not a practice with customer service. i guess i was wrong. i am simply curious how did they get my old email address, the same address where they are sending me bills. did i fill out form too. i mean, they could have informed about that. i am their client since 2019 but, no biggie

@valherma00 They could only have your email address if you gave it to them when you set up your first account. They would need it to send you bills. They just don't want to make any mistakes.

you are right. i just don't understand and i didn't receive the information from where did they get my old email address, on which they are sending me bills. it's just i need to fill out the form or now new option, to call them cause, apparently, they tried to call me. they don't solve, they just complicate things.

You don't need to be like them. I'm sorry they can't apologize. Customer service is getting worse. It's not your imagination and it's not new.

the same person who told me i need to fill out the form called me but it was on saturday so i didn't feel too good to pick up the phone when i saw the unknown number. i checked the number later and i also received the email after that, that they tried to reach me and repeated i need to fill out the form cause, imagine this, i contacted them via email or i can call them (number starts with 0800 and is much more expensive than usual numbers here). in my opinion, she could have offered to call me again, which she didn't. thank you for supporting me and thank you for confirming that they are getting worse. i think i'll keep my old yahoo account cause, they are complicating everything and won't tell me how they got my old email address, where they are sending me bills.

I think you have a point there. Depending on the customer service agent you get, they either try hard to fix your problem or else like from your experience they don't seem to care. I've had issues with my health insurer promising to look into a claim and never contacting me with an update. Very rude! Cable can be bad too if you are having a problem with your service. You get the run around or disconnected. It leaves you really angry! It really can be a crapshoot. Sometimes I've received excellent service other times terrible.

Sorry you experienced these issues but I do agree that most of the time customer service isn't what it used to be.
