Vote for Me (Or Not)

A man running for city council knocked on my front door yesterday, and asked if I had time to talk about his campaign or if he could leave some of his information with me, and I told him I’d gladly look at any information he left me. It made me wonder why I hadn’t gotten my absentee ballot to vote February 10th. I realized I hadn’t signed up to vote absentee for the calendar year of 2026. So I took care of that, and now I know I signed up in enough time for them to send me the ballot. I signed up to vote absentee back in 2016 after I almost passed out in the voting line. I hadn’t even been standing very long! In Oklahoma, if you are disabled, they send you the ballot, you fill it out, and then you have it notarized (my dad is a notary). I know one side of the political aisle likes to say absentee voting is an invitation for fraud, but I just roll my eyes. Anyway, at least in Oklahoma, if you are NOT disabled it is much harder to vote absentee. Which I understand. Do you usually vote early? Day of? Absentee?

Usually the day of unless I am working election day..which I probably won't be doing again unless they give me an offer I can't refuse.

Yeah, it sounds like it’s a busy day for workers.

Please don't do it...I worry it won't be safe.

I have voted absentee (they send the ballot to me) for a while now.

Usually the day of. I know a few states do mail only. I wouldn't mind that

I think Lenore’s state is like that.

That's good you could get that taken care of. I think I have only voted once in my life and that was when I turned old enough to do it. So can't really give input here

If I know I am going to be gone or might be gone, I vote early. I have voted absentee before, too. Anymore, it doesn't seem very smart to vote on the actual days of elections. Last time they couldn't seem to get enough security for the workers, which worried me for their safety. Remember when security wasn't necessary for elections? It is now. How sad is that?

@AmbiePam I've been an election judge before. With todays antics, I never want to be one again.

I only voted once in person when we were still living in Italy. After we moved abroad we never voted, because we could not vote by mail. As we are back to Italy, the next time we will vote, in person.

I've always voted in person but absentee ballots are certainly good for those who can't get there in person.

I normally vote in person unless I know I will be away.
