Walmart has implemented a new purchase limit on several everyday items. Red alerts on over 200 items. This is just in the last two weeks. We could see 3-6 month "availability gaps" beginning in February on many items. They have also been talking to the government about rationing protocols. There could be a time coming when they have to limit how much food a family can buy to feed their families. Some of the items are: eggs, baby formula, toilet paper and other paper products, some commonly prescribed medications, cleaning supplies, cooking oil, canned foods, frozen foods and canned pet food. There are many reasons for these shortages. There has been a 60% reduction is production in many, bird flu never stopped, tariffs, cost of materials, the weather, energy prices, and others. I did read somewhere that we may experience shortages on some things as well. I do hope we never have to ration food stuffs or thongs like toilet paper but it would not surprise me if it did happen here

@sallypup .......That's good. Those can taste pretty good if there are no other choices available.

We are pretty well stocked, but may take the opportunity to get more of things we do not have.

I wonder if other stores will be doing this also. I think it is time to start stocking again before this gets worse.

@velvet53 .......Not for a long time. Trump needs to be gone and then things can get back to normal hopefully. And that will take time too. He really hurt this country and still is able to.

I wonder if the tariffs are starting to have an effect on supply.

I hope you will stock up on things you use a lot. Better safe and stocked up than doing without.

I hope it won’t get that bad . Prices are already so high and to not be able to get the things we need at all would be awful.

Yes, it would. That's why I passed this info on to you. I think it's better to be stocked up on the things we used than to not be able to get them later on down the road.

That's funny, I was just at Wal-mart last week, and I didn't have a problem. And we can easly spend 100 on products. If that's true, I can't say I'm surprised, but I haven't run into this yet.

As it is I have a tight budget and often reorder the same things on Walmart if I cannot get what I need then I don't know what to do,

I usually will order some extras when I have a order that is a bit lower than usual. I try to keep some extras available but with rising costs I haven't been able to. I don't know what people are going to do.

Yes, much of it is. But there are other factors such as price hikes, bird flu, and such things.

I added some things to my Monday order from Walmart. Thanks for the post. I hope we don't have to put up with rationing again.
