I never thought of doing this.

So last night I called my dad to ask him a question, and found out he was going to a conference about AI today. He said he and Diana are going to a conference about how artificial intelligence is used to scam people. At first, I was like, well, isn’t that kind of easy if your mind hasn’t started to decline yet? He knows if someone says I’m arrested I haven’t been, and if he hears my kidnapped voice it’s not really me. But he said his friends he’s going with showed him some examples in several different mediums on how AI can get you, and they were really convincing. He wants to stay current in how not to be fooled. I thought that was actually a good idea. I know there are ways to scam people that have never even occurred to me.

I think it was a good idea to go. I know that AI can scam people, but also smart hackers can do this. I am very careful even answering my phone.

Pretty drives me crazy with that stuff. She's positive that I'm falling for every scam that comes around. If I even mention doing something different online, she starts screaming to let her check it out before I open the page. I hope your dad has fun and learns a lot about the AI scams.

Of all people who wouldn’t fall for scams, it would be you. I’m surprised she would worry.

@DaddyEvil Oh, DE, I don’t like that at all. I’m younger than you, and you can run mental circles around me. And as much as I may rue any potential fate like my mother, there is nothing wrong with my mind.

@AmbiePam Thank you. She claims I'm losing my memory... I talked with my doctor about it when Pretty wasn't with me. They said if she keeps doing that, I can take a memory exam to keep her from doing anything weird with me, like trying to put me in a home. I do forget things I don't consider important but that's not the same thing. She's talking about early onset dementia and it makes me angry when she does that.

I am so Leary of AI. Your Dad is smart to want to learn more about it. I know I have done some reading about it and to me, it honestly makes me wish for simpler times.

I know experts say it’s for the best, but wow, it causes a lot of damage.

@AmbiePam I think it's rather dangerous myself. It's often difficult to tell what is real and what is not. That alone is scary to me.

Of course you would never think of the things. Honest people do not think of dishonest things. They are just not wired that way.

Jeez...I never liked the idea of AI to begin with, and sure enough, the crooks/scammers found out how to use it...

The scammers are clever and they have nothing else to do except work out more and more devious ways to trick us. You can't trust anyone unless you see them in person - and sometimes not even then! Do you remember the shooting of the MN state legislators last year, by a guy wearing a silicone face mask?

Vince was fooled by a young singer the other day. He had no idea it was all AI-generated. That's pretty scary about scammers using a person's voice. I think I need to take a course on 'how to spot AI stuff' too.

AI just gives the scammers and crooks another method to cheat us.
