Arctic Angels

I was watching the news, and they did a segment about the Arctic Angels in Oklahoma, who, in weather like this, procure motel rooms for homeless people. The hotels rooms aren’t free, and they are only able to do this through the nonprofit, On Bended Knee. Of course, these motel rooms aren’t the Holiday Inn, but they get a warm room and hot water to bathe in. Of course the cities have homeless shelters and warning stations, but that’s just not always enough with the extremity of this weather. I was really glad to see that segment.

We have a few little groups like this who do basically the same, I don’t know if they have names. In extreme weather the shelters are always full. No one could survive without shelter of some sort in these cold temperatures. Many here in my little complex donated blankets for a project one of our local churches had this past week. They asked that if you had a blanket you didn’t need to please bag it up and have it ready for porch pick up this past Wednesday for emergency shelters. One thing I do have is blankets, I put two of them in a bag out there and they were picked up. The idea of no warm blanket is just mind boggling.

It’s hard to imagine living in an environment that gets below zero. Thank you, Lord we don’t have to go through that.

We need to take care of one another, for sure.

They’ll get at least 9 days of motel rooms because that’s how long we’ll be below freezing.

This is great to hear. I don't think the homeless would care where it is as long as they are warm and have a place tto sleep. I wish there more around like this.

I just keep thinking how nice it must be to be to be safe for several days in a row (they are paying for them 9 straight days, the length of time the weather will be 32 degrees or under).

We need to hear more about the good deeds being done. The news is so full of dire happenings that it's uplifting to hear that there are people who are willing to help less fortunate. I can't even imagine what it must be like having no home in good weather but during frigid weather like this it's mindboggling. Arctic Angels are doing Gods work.

Yes, they definitely are. The woman being interviewed said , “We just don’t want anyone to die.” That gave me chills.

@AmbiePam isn't that sad. We take so much for granted that I feel guilty when I complain

Now that's an organization that is doing something worthwhile. One of the greatest goods in this world is what we can do to help one another.

What is important is to have a warm place where to stay. I hope they can keep their pets with them.
