What’s your favorite breakfast?

Honestly, I don’t really do breakfast - coffee usually does the job for me. But there’s one exception I can never resist: Jollibee’s breakfast meals. For those who don’t know, Jollibee is a famous Filipino fast-food chain, kind of like our McDonald’s, with branches not just in the Philippines but in the US and other countries too. Yesterday, out of nowhere, I had a sudden craving for Jollibee breakfast. So off we went to the nearest branch. Luck was on our side this time - there was parking! (One time we went, there wasn’t any, and we had to turn back empty-handed. A tragedy, really.) We ordered the Longsilog - LONG for longganisa (sausage), SI for sinangag (fried rice), and LOG for itlog (fried egg) - paired with a steaming cup of hot chocolate. This time, no empty hands (or stomach), just pure breakfast joy. How about you? What breakfast meal can’t you say no? Photo of the longsilog meal we had. PS: Hi, myLot peeps! I skipped the usual “How’s everyone?” because… why not? Happy 2026! 2025 was quite a ride - it left its marks, but I’m slowly healing. I hope to be around here more often (I know, I’ve said it before), but fingers crossed, I’ll actually stick to it this year. PPS: So the photo didn’t go through?

WOW, look who is back! I hope you are fine. Italians are not really into breakfast. We have coffee and usually a slice of toasted bread with jam, and coffee, good coffee.

Anna-san, hiiiiii! Oh, there’s so much to talk about. lol Your coffee must not be the same as my coffee - lots of creamer and just a little bit of sugar. haha And is there a Jollibee where you are?

@sol_cee No Jollibee here, my coffee is Italian espresso, NO creamer and very little sugar, sometimes no sugar at all.

However much time you can get here is great! Of course, the more the better I'll like it but I know life can get in the way. (I really do miss you when you aren't here, though. ) You might or might not know that the Central and Eastern part of the US is getting a big snow storm right now. We have over 12 inches/305 mm of snow already and are supposed to get 3 to 5 inches more/76mm to 127 mm more snow before it ends this afternoon. Our temp right now is 5F/-15C and the high today is supposed to reach 14F/-10C. You KNOW I'd love to see you and you'd have fun in the snow. Oh, I usually eat a sausage, egg and cheese croissant sandwich for breakfast.

@sol_cee You're welcome. Pretty and I are just staying inside, probably for the next week because the temps will stay below freezing here for at least that long.

It is SO good to see you! My favorite breakfast is a Western omelette (cheese, peppers, ham, and onions). I just love them, especially when they come with a a side of fried potatoes. Hey, you just made me hungry! I wish we had a Jollibee.

@sol_cee Yes, I have. Our Filipino friends talk about it, and I know they are in California too. Unfortunately, I live in Oklahoma where there are none.

I love food from the Philippines. My neighbor made a chicken, carrot, and noodle dish for me. I usually just have black coffee for breakfast. It fills me up. Lol! My favorite breakfast place is here in Florida. I love their 5 egg omelette, home style potatoes, and thick bread. Hubby and I have to bring half of it home to eat later. Glad you enjoyed your meal. Sounds delicious!

Ooooh, that looks like pancit! Filipino food is always a win - so colorful and full of flavor! And wow - a 5-egg omelette? That could feed a small village

@DianneN What do you remember from that noodle dish - was there shrimp, cabbage, or anything else in it? And is that neighbor Filipino?

@sol_cee Pancit? I will look for a recipe and see if I could make it myself. Thanks! Yes, their omelettes are ridiculous, but sooooo delicious. We usually use the rest for dinner. They automatically give people a doggie bag when they serve them.

I've heard of Jolibee and would like to try some time. Like you, I don't usually eat breakfast, but I do like breakfast food. I like egg-based stuff, like scrambled eggs, omelettes, quiche, or crepes. Also link sausage or bacon. That's just when I go out for breakfast, though. If I have breakfast at home, I usually just make oatmeal with some fruit and almonds.

Hi Ali-san. Jollibee is definitely worth trying! I’m not sure if they serve breakfast abroad, but if they do, it might just be the most delicious excuse to eat eggs and pancakes at any time of day. Honestly, breakfast-for-dinner is basically a superpower, right?

Sunday bacon feels almost ceremonial - like if you don’t have it, the day’s already off. Do you cook it crispy or a little chewy?

I know, right! I’m usually too full for a big breakfast, but when the cravings hit… can’t say no. Lol. Filipino breakfasts are typically rice plus something anyway
