She can’t wait to leave Oklahoma.

My sister took care of her entire family last week (with flu B), and amazingly, never got it. It’s a good thing because she is leaving for Mexico (cruise) on Sunday, her 47th birthday. One of her friends is going on a cruise, and asked Mindy if she wanted to go. She’s been to Mexico about 12 times (we went as kids several times), but she doesn’t like the cold, and in Oklahoma, winter doesn’t even start until January.
She sure likes to travel. Normally, she takes her family, but I think it will be nice for her to go without them. I tell you, having three children is one thing, but when one is Hudson, that’s an enormous amount of work. I mean, I knew he was work, but until I went to California with them, I didn’t understand how exhausting it was. It’s amazing they bother with vacation. Hudson actually had surgery this morning in his mickey button (it was leaking). That’s partially where he’s fed, through his stomach.
I hate summer’s 110 temperatures so much I don’t mind a cold snap. Although, I know I’m in the minority.

My BIL works from home, but yes, I was concerned about the same thing, him needing help. For some reason, and he must need to take the kids two different places, he only needs help February 3rd, and a church member volunteered to help.
It’s not fun to watch three kids with just one parent, but both my BIL and sister have done it before. It can’t be easy though.

@JudyEv They just got approved for help to hire someone to help with him. Really, they primarily just want someone to take him to therapy so Jeff can work and Mindy can watch the other two. They can hire anyone they want, so they can have personal assurance that person is responsible.

I am glad she has the chance for some down time with her friend. Mexico can be a lot of fun--when we lived in Texas and Louisiana many years ago, Dad would take my sister and I to Mexico often--he loved it. No passport needed, everyone just came and went as they pleased. I personally think Dad went for the Mexican food, but he did have a friend who lived there that we visited with, that would come and see us as well. As I usually say--Ah, memories!

Hudson has such a sweet smile. What a handsome man. Sometimes, they can be a bit more intense in raising, but it's so worth it. I have a grandson with Down Syndrome, and he has two speeds, fast and faster. But man, those hugs.....I hope she can go on her trip.

Hudson is a cute kid!
Does he eat orally at all? Or is the majority of his food through his mickey button?

@AmbiePam Well that's awesome that he eats so much orally. I follow a little boy, I can't remember what his diagnoses is, but up until he was two they told him he wouldnt ever eat orally, and he shocked everyone and started demaning french toast, cheeseburgers and milkshakes. Its so sweet.
I can't beleive how grown the kids have gotten.

He looks happy guess everything went fine. She deserves the trip. Is there any chance Hudson will ever eat normally?

Yes, it all went fine. Right now, he eats 60% of his food orally. It’s just hard for him to eat enough to satisfy his nutritional needs. They think he’ll eventually get to 80% orally, but he may never completely eat without the Mickey button.. Putting the food in his stomach takes like five minutes, so it’s not a big ordeal, but you do have to carry around a bag with a tube, and a packet of food with wipes.

I’m sure it would be wonderful for your sister to get away with her friend. Mexico is lots of fun and has so much to see and do. Is it a Mexican Riviera cruise or a gulf cruise?
Hudson has certainly grown since I last saw him. I hope Hudson handled the surgery well.
