Do you ever drink Gatorade?

I don’t think the magnesium has kicked in yet (last time it took two days), so I ordered some Gatorade to get my electrolytes going. Of course, I’m already guzzling water, and I have no desire for a Coke. I think orange Gatorade is coming along with some chicken soup. I wonder how many other countries have similar Gatorade drinks. I know it’s stressed for athletes, but it helps otherwise too. I remember a woman Europe asked me once what Gatorade was so I assumed it wasn’t a cross continent phenomenon.

I don't think we have it here. OK having looked it up it is of course available from Amazon. We have Lucozade sports drinks which I guess are a similar sort of thing? I never drink those either though.

I love Gatorade. My favorite is the fruit punch and the blue one. I know it is helping me and that works for me.

I don’t really recommend it unless someone is dehydrated, and water isn’t doing enough, fast enough.

@AmbiePam - I never drink anything containing artificial colors and sugar. In most cases Gatorade is not better than water to hydrate. Gatorade may be good for those who perform intense exercise.

I feel a bit better after drinking it. I haven’t had it in maybe ten years, but I’m doing everything I can not to have to go get an IV.

@AmbiePam I’m so sorry you aren’t feeling better yet, Amber. Go get the IV if you need to, please!! Gatorade can only do so much. I personally don’t like it at all, not sure why but I just don’t. To me it tastes so odd I just can’t handle it, but I know some people really like it. Be well, sweetie!!

Cousin #3 picked me up some Pedialyte when I was sick. I've never had Gatorade.

I don't remember the last time I drank gatorade. Coconut is abundant in this country and coconut water is what I drink when I need electrolytes especially when I'm suffering from amoebiasis.

I used to drink it every once in a while when we'd take a road trip and I'd get thirsty. I also kept the bottles, cleaned them and refilled them with plain water. I still have a few of them that I will clean and re-use since I have a tendency to bump a glass or bottle when I'm not paying attention and don't like whatever I'm drinking to make a mess. (The cleaned bottles are refilled with water and a bit of bleach if I don't need the bottle and just want to keep it from growing mold until I'm ready to use it. I dump the bleach water out, clean the bottle again and rinse until the bleach odor is gone, then fill it with whatever I want right then. When the bottle starts to grow mold, I throw it away and get out another clean bottle.)

@AmbiePam Very true. Those quart bottles are very handy. I keep one filled with water on my headboard all the time. I go through 1 1/2 gallons of water daily.

It makes sense. Sometimes your body responds to electrolytes much faster than waiting for supplements to kick in. Gatorade is usually labeled as a sports drink, but in reality it’s useful in other situations too, like when you’re run down or dehydrated. As for other countries, I think many places have their own local versions, just not as widely known as Gatorade. So it’s understandable that some people aren’t even familiar with the name.
