When we moved here ten years ago. My cousin and her husband had12 rental homes. They have sold three since we have moved here. They are in their late 70's so they have decided to sell two more. They wanted to waited until the renters moved out which they did. So I went with them to help them clean the two. They were not that bad. I love to paint the inside of houses so I helped her paint the inside of the houses and her husband had his son in law helped him paint the outside of the house. . The one house has already sold. The other one is a big four bedroom house which they want $500,000 for. It is worth that much but they have not got any offers at all. They even had an open house and no one came. When they bought this house they paid only $8,000 cash for it. . She paid me today cash for helping her paint the two houses. My husband and I will spend the money as cash. I do not want to claim anymore money than we have to on taxes. I do hope she sells this house.

The government never needs to know. Your secret is safe with us! Wow, I haven't painted a house in a long time.

My first husband was in construction so I did a lot of small projects and painting for him.. I like fixing houses and painting them. Now I will not paint the outside of a house.

That's a big increase in value - when did they buy the house?

I think in the 70's, Two of the house were owned by relatives and left to them. From there they bought more.

Was it really warm/dry enough to paint the outside? (It's snowing again here.)

@jstory07 If you say so... The only time I've seen paint peel is when moisture had gotten in the wood.

It has been in the 60's all week here and no rain. You can not paint a house in the summer the paint will peel.

They are asking a lot of money and people are short in money right now. Not easy to obtain a mortgage either. Spend that money and tell no one.

@jstory07 - We sold our house in very short time because we knew that asking the "real value" would have been unsold for years. One of the neighbors is no lowering the price and his house is for sale from 8 years now.

I noticed you weren't here as much lately and wondered if you were sick. I'm glad you were just helping paint houses instead of being ill.

When I sold my house in Latvia the main thing was that the young family wanted a garden for their kids and wanted out of their small apartment. They took my house as is with wiring that needed redoing and, due to winter pipe burst, no water. I was lucky to get out of there.

That will be a nice profit when they find a buyer. Nothing like investing in real estate.
