Coffee Time!

We just got in from the hospital for my husband's treatment for Neuropothy in his feet. This is a new treatment and his first one, so we are hoping for good results. However, when he got out he couldn't wait to get in the car and HOME. He was in PAIN and you know how men handle PAIN. He acted like a woman going through labor and childbirth without any medication!! It was horrible. He swore he wasn't going back for another treatment. They are given every 3 months. We will see how it goes tonight and tomorrow, but if the pain keeps up I am betting he throws in the towel. The first patient that did this treatment there had very good results. I would think the results would trump an afternoon of pain. Once he got home and took his socks off it helped relieve some pressure and pain. He did a foot soak as directed and is now lounging in bed. But now the pain is coming back full blast. I'm staying away for awhile and letting him handle it. I am now trying to enjoying a hot cup of coffee and to relax a little but I hear him all the way in the bedroom moaning and groaning. Does anyone else enjoy coffee in the afternoon or evening? I love it any time of the day or night! Photo Credit: Public Domain

He has tried just about everything on the market, so was happy to try this new treatment that just cleared FDA approval. So far he doesn't think it is worth the pain it has caused him after the treatment. And I doubt he changes his mind!!

He sounds like my husband. Being childish and stupid about things that make him uncomfortable.

Hopefully, this is something he won’t give up on, and the closer he gets to the second treatment the more he’ll think it will be worth it.

That would be good, but I don't think it will happen. He's never had to deal with real pain except for when he had neck surgery a couple of years ago. That was his first surgery and he said his last. Men!

This one doesn't do pain at all!! In all our married years, he has only had surgery once and that was a tough one to get through, as well. I guess it is worse for someone who has never had to deal with pain before and not knowing what to expect!?

@JudyEv I've had to deal with a lot of pain and recovery from surgeries; so I'm pretty used to the routine. And I know I have to be patient. No use in taking out the pain on someone else. It should all be turned over to God to oversee and handle.

@kareng You could be right. Some suffer chronic pain and manage to hide it. One of my village friends is in that position at the moment but he remains pretty cheerful.

It's not pleasant to be in so much pain. Hopefully, the pain subsides and he doesn't give up on the treatments.

I only drink a cup in the morning. To late in the afternoon or evening and I can't go to sleep.

Oh my goodness, I know that no one likes to be in pain, but if this treatment may help he should continue. I never drink coffee in the afternoon or evening.

I don't drink coffee but like some tea. Hope he feels better soon. If it helps it's worth short term pain. But you are the one I feel for

I hope the pain subsided and the treatment will work. Sorry to laugh at your reference to your husbands pain like a woman in labor When it comes to coffee count me in! I used to be able to drink coffee morning, noon and night but now I have my magic beans in the morning (2 cups) and then have to switch to decaf if I have more later in the day.

The only kind of coffee I can drink is less than 40% caffeine. I can't do the 50/50 blends in the stores. I get recurring UPI's when I drink caffeine. So no soft drinks either unless caffeine free!

That should have been painful but if he is in a recovery mode, it is worth it. Physical pain is not easy to endure - including a toothache

I'm so sorry about your husband's pain. My husband's cousin/Godson has the same condition. I didn't know there were treatments for it. I hope the treatment helped. My hubby used to make me a cup of decaf instant coffee every afternoon; and he would bring me a muffin or a donut to have with it. I miss that.
