Knife sharpening tool

February 11, 2026 9:50am CST
Yvonne ordered a knife sharpening tool from Amazon It looks quite cool I have already been informed that I will not be allowed to use it incase I cut myself Oh well never mind I won't cut myself then, will I? Has anyone ever cut themselves sharpening a knife before? I don't know as I have never sharpened a knife before using one of these things

I've never cut myself sharpening a knife but I did almost cut my finger off after I had sharpened the knife

Yes indeed I thought Yvonne might have been more worried that I did that Did you need stitches? Was it sore?

Lenny bought a knife sharpening tool once but we never even opened it. It’s still in the box in the kitchen.

@Ineeddentures I bought a Breville sous chef at my mom’s insistence years ago and used it but rarely. Now it’s just sitting in the huge box in my pantry.

Ah We have a few things like that in the house that had never been opened. A bread maker of all things falls into that category It's actually in my garden shed now

@lovebuglena Why do you not sell it Lena? Are you ever likely to use it? We have a sandwich toaster we never use, And an egg cooker Why we ever got these things I don't know

@Ineeddentures - It's very similar, easier to use than the professional sharpener that it's in the bottom of a drawer.

@Ineeddentures It didn't need stitches or anything; so it was OK.

I have never sharpened a knife. The two knives we have are in our kitchen. When we need to sharpen them, we give them to a man who does the job for us. I've never seen the tool you have mentioned here.

Is that an electric one? Either way it looks like something my grandfather had. I never used it though. We grew up sharpening them the old fashioned way lol...I'll try to share a photo of the tool. edit: ahh it didn't work

@Ineeddentures Sounds pretty easy. But I think they do have electric ones that look very similar

@MommyOfEli2013 I asked Yvonne if she could have bought an electric one and she said she wasn't sure but I think she could have got one electric if she wanted
11 Feb
No Courtney it is not electric I think you hold it with one hand and slide the knife into the slots and slide it in and out

I haven't ever sharpened a knife, but my can opener has slots on the back for that. I have slot of knives, if INE is dull I just grab another.

Vince uses a stone now for sharpening the knives. He hasn't cut himself yet.

My knife skills are not very good And I have to take my time slicing vegetables Bit I am ultra careful so I know not why Yvonne gets worried about me cutting myself
