They Just Tried To Fail Us

Had our housing inspection just now. It was a young guy that obviously isn't real experienced. He tried to fail us for BLACK MOLD. You know what it was? Cat paw prints on the windowsill. Gheez! I'm sure glad that is over for another year. And, if you notice, I didn't have anxiety and post about it the night before like I have in the past. We have been busy this week with Cami's physical therapy and Josh's dentist appointments besides the usual meds check and psych session. And Housing Maintenance has been here several times fixing a wall. So much interaction makes us all tired.

I find it interesting that they don't do annual inspections here. They have to bring in a company to inspect the fire extinguishers and sprinklers annually but that's it. Several years ago there was a mandated state inspection where you could tell the state person if you had issues that hadn't been resolved. The head maintenance and state guy showed up but the state inspector said that he could have Ted leave if I didn't feel comfortable saying anything in front of him. I didn't have anything to report. I'm not the absolute best at keeping everything super clean but there isn't anything that maintenance would find in here that would be objectionable aside from if Adso decided to puke on the rug while I wasn't around and I didn't see it. I used to hang out with the Moroccans downstairs and their apartment was an absolute hot mess. They wouldn't even get maintenance to fix their broken washer, oven, and microwave because they didn't want them to see the state of the apartment. I guess for one of the mandatory inspections they got in there and saw the state of things. They immediately repainted all of the walls. They were supposed to replace the carpet too but I don't know if they ever did.

Maintenance here does a pre-inspection where they come in and see if anything needs repaired before the inspection so that is nice. Having the state person come in sounds weird. This is the Section 8 program and HUD is the one who funds their portion of the voucher. I hope the program continues since Trump is trying to end any help for poor people. We aren't super clean either, but things aren't nasty dirty either. My daughter sadly doesn't not take pride in her home, but I still make her clean and keep it up. Some people just don't. I don't know how they can live like that.

@celticeagle I do what I need to do in order to keep things clean. I also pay a cleaning lady to come in every other week to do all of the stuff that I don't want to deal with.

I'm glad it wasn't mold and you weren't as anxious about it this year. I hope all the appointments are going well.

I am too. That stuff is awful and can be deadly. Theirs are. Now I have to get out and do mine. I'm certainly glad that the doctor comes to my home now.

@celticeagle Yes, it can and that wouldn't be a reason to eject you from that apartment, anyway, at least not in Missouri. That would be their problem and you could sue them if they didn't clean it up as soon as it was spotted. I'm glad your doctor sees you at home, too. You get too worried about things to keep going to a doctor.

Housing inspection? I am glad we don't have those! But sorry that he tried to do that. That's good for it to be done with for another year.
