Kids have a day off today

Yup, there is no school for any of my kids today. Tomorrow, my son has school but not my two eldest. I will admit that I do enjoy when they have a day off. It gives them a break from school. And it gives me a break from making lunches, waking them up and stuff. I'm also happy that it happens on a day when I'm working from home. Yes, I do have to work, but I can still take a couple of minutes through the day to check on them or have a chat or whatever.

It would be much easier keeping an eye on the kids if you're working from home those days.

Yeah, it is definitely easier. Thankfully, they are old enough that they don't need as much as when they were little. But still I'm here if they need anything.

@JudyEv For the most part they don't. But I don't mind if they do sometimes. So long as I can get the work done, I don't mind too much.

@dodo19 I can understand that now they wouldn't interrupt you much at all - hopefully.

That's good for them. My kids have a week off the first week of March. So it's a little later.

Happy Family Day! (or do they call it something else there in la Belle Province?) And then tomorrow is Mardi Gras, followed by Ash Wednesday (which is also my birthday).

We don't have family day here in Quebec. My kids have a day off, and I'm not 100% sure why, but hey it is what it is. And happy early birthday!!!

@dodo19 I thought it was national. But what do I know? I just checked with Wiki and this is what I found: "Family Day is a public holiday in the countries of Angola, Israel, Namibia, South Africa, Uruguay, Vanuatu, and Vietnam; in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Saskatchewan; in the American states of Arizona and Nevada; and as the second day of Songkran in Thailand." And thanks for the birthday greeting.

It's a good coincidence that your kids are not in school today and you work from home.

I always tried to take a vacation day when Pretty wasn't supposed to be in school when she was little. When I just couldn't get the day off, I dropped her off with grandma until I got off work. When she was older, I just left her at home and called to check on her during my breaks and lunch. Working from home would definitely make things easier.

It's nice that she could spend some time with grandma when you couldn't get the day off. It is nice being able to work from home when they have a day off.

@DaddyEvil I am currently in customer service as well. I work in for a logistics company and mostly deal with emails and such. It also probably depends on the company as well and what the job entails.

@dodo19 Mom enjoyed having her. They'd go on walks and have good conversations. I bet! I was in customer service so couldn't work from home.

It works out well that they have a day off from school while you are working from home. I was lucky throughout my career that my employer was very family oriented. Whenever the kids had a day off from school, we could either bring them to work with us, or we could take the day off to spend with them.

@dodo19 That was at my former employer (my career job). I retired from that place. My current employer is not as family friendly. Not saying they don't value family, but it's a lot harder to leave work, take a day off, or come in late due to family matters.

What holiday is it that the kids have no school? And the two girls tomorrow? It’s great that you are working from home today. Enjoy!

It's not a holiday here in Quebec, but it's Family Day in other provinces. And yup the two eldest girls have tomorrow off. I got lucky that their day off was on the same day I work from home. It's been nice.
