Kids have a day off today

Yup, there is no school for any of my kids today. Tomorrow, my son has school but not my two eldest.
I will admit that I do enjoy when they have a day off. It gives them a break from school. And it gives me a break from making lunches, waking them up and stuff.
I'm also happy that it happens on a day when I'm working from home. Yes, I do have to work, but I can still take a couple of minutes through the day to check on them or have a chat or whatever.

It is half term holiday here in the UK so schools are closed for a week.

Happy Family Day! (or do they call it something else there in la Belle Province?) And then tomorrow is Mardi Gras, followed by Ash Wednesday (which is also my birthday).

@dodo19 I thought it was national. But what do I know?
I just checked with Wiki and this is what I found:
"Family Day is a public holiday in the countries of Angola, Israel, Namibia, South Africa, Uruguay, Vanuatu, and Vietnam; in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Saskatchewan; in the American states of Arizona and Nevada; and as the second day of Songkran in Thailand."
And thanks for the birthday greeting.

I always tried to take a vacation day when Pretty wasn't supposed to be in school when she was little. When I just couldn't get the day off, I dropped her off with grandma until I got off work. When she was older, I just left her at home and called to check on her during my breaks and lunch.
Working from home would definitely make things easier.

@DaddyEvil I am currently in customer service as well. I work in for a logistics company and mostly deal with emails and such. It also probably depends on the company as well and what the job entails.

@dodo19 Mom enjoyed having her. They'd go on walks and have good conversations.
I bet! I was in customer service so couldn't work from home.

It works out well that they have a day off from school while you are working from home.
I was lucky throughout my career that my employer was very family oriented. Whenever the kids had a day off from school, we could either bring them to work with us, or we could take the day off to spend with them.

@dodo19 That was at my former employer (my career job). I retired from that place. My current employer is not as family friendly. Not saying they don't value family, but it's a lot harder to leave work, take a day off, or come in late due to family matters.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX Lol. Some kids are like that. Unfortunately they are just going to have to deal with having a day off.

I'm glad you can enjoy having them at home and that they don't disrupt your work. It really meant a lot to me that my mom was at home when I was a kid.

That must make it easier in the summertime when they are home and you're home.

It's good to have our kids home with us. Spend a little time and enjoy each other's company.
