You can look this up in greater detail, but I’ll give you the basics. In Seattle an owner wants to start a construction project on his land. On it is a 100 year old redwood tree. Crews were all set to cut it down, and apparently they were all there when an onlooker saw a bald eagle sitting on its branches. Then, another showed up. Well, even the crew knew the law. You can’t mess with federally protected bald eagles or their resting places. So, temporarily, the 100 year old tree stays. Several people made sure to report it and it is a federal matter now. The guy just wants to make money, I’m sure, like anyone else. But I can’t help but root for the tree.

It's the same here, not only some birds are protected, but also old trees are protected.

Apparently, the tree is right outside protected land.

That’s a win for the environment for awhile anyway.

I'm for th tree as well but felt a bit sorry for the owner. The law must be respected though.

Good that the eagles showed up and saved the tree. Tree 1--greed 0.

Redwood trees grow slowly, and the wood is in demand. The heart of the tree is also worth the most. But I am glad the eagles showed up, I hope someone can save the tree somehow, but it doesn't sound very positive. I hope the eagles hang out on it a LOT to protect it!

I think he should leave it alone, and find another way to use his land.

So glad for that tree but would suggest maybe give it some added support just in case, since it is so old.

I’m not exactly sure what the deal is because I would have assumed the same thing.

I root for the trees most of the time, too. In that particular case, I'd have called and reported the matter, too.

That 100 year old tree should stay. I hope it will.
