I haven’t been on myLot for several days as we spent them with friends at their house on the beach near Mandurah in Western Australia. It was a very relaxing time and we spent the evenings playing cards. The dining table is very long and, not only long but quite wide. The ‘pack’ of cards sat in the middle of the table and we took turns to pick from it and discard a card of our own. However, because of the width of the table, we all had to stretch to reach the cards in the middle. My friend had a very simple solution. We put the pack of cards on a table mat then simply slid it closer to each person as it was their turn. Such a simple solution which worked wonderfully well. The photo is mine of the front of their very elegant house.

That does look like a nice house. I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation. We always sat around our glass coffee table to play cards. It was round so everybody could reach the deck in the center of the table easily.

There are 'card tables' that you can buy which is what we use when we play cards in the village. They have two of these tables in the clubhouse.

@JudyEv We're so crowded in this house that there isn't room for a table.

@DaddyEvil We're trying to help get our son into a house and some of the 'bedrooms' are battling to take a double bed. The rooms can be ridiculously small.

On the right, the balcony goes the length of the house. It's like staying in a fancy hotel.

It's a lovely house. It's generous of them to share it with their friends. They live in the village but also known this house.

That's using your noodle, or in this case...your mat!

Glad you were able to spend time with friends. The house is beautiful. You are right, simple solutions are the best and the idea of the mat for the cards was genius.

As long as you don't have those non-slip mats they use on boats

The non-slip mats I bought for the motor-home weren't that useful really. I think maybe I bought the wrong ones. Only one side seemed non-slip.

@JudyEv I remember some rubbery ones that were really quite 'sticky'. We were all laughing about how you could stop stolen cars by throwing them in the road, and things like that
