That didn’t turn out how I thought it would.

Somehow, we got our wires crossed. I thought I was just doing $300 worth of dental work, and they were thinking $2,700 worth of work today. Well, my dad and Diana are out of town, but I knew I’d be in trouble if I wrote a $2,700 check to that dentist. I’m open to whatever he thinks he can get done cheaper, but if he (my dad) wants his own dentist he needs to give me info on how to proceed. I’d like to get this taken care of before a lot of pain sets in. Why can’t I call that dentist myself? Well, I tried and they wouldn’t talk to me. Anyway, hopefully we can get a move on this when everyone is back in town.

I wouldn't dare write a larger check than I was told to write, either. I hope you had the most pressing things done today, at least.

Absolutely nothing was done. BUT, just as I was typing this to you, I got a text from my dad saying he found a dentist he knows who will do it cheaper. How much cheaper? I don’t know. But even if it’s $2,000 cheaper, that’s still $2,000 saved.

@AmbiePam I'm glad your dad is still looking for you. I was going to tell you to come here and go to the clinic in Springfield. They have a rota of dentists who volunteer their time. You never know who you're going to get but they go by income. The last time Pretty needed dental work before Missouri started Medicaid, they didn't charge us anything for pulling a tooth and putting in a filling for her.

Why can't you call yourself? Because someone misses out on the referral fee... What is it you need done?

@AmbiePam Some of those community health clinics that operate on a sliding scale have dental programs with them. They vary in quality though. You need to read reviews carefully. The one that is associated with the clinic here is ridiculous..but there is one in a neighboring county that has good reviews. The trouble with that kind of thing though..is sometimes they won't take people from other counties or catchment areas, I think a way around it might be that you need specialized dental work only available in that particular office, It isn't a lie, it is usuually the better ones that have perio dontal or cosmetic. However, you would likely have to wait awhile for an appointment.

I hope that gets settled. I wouldn't dare write such a huge amount to if the check isn't mine.

After I texted him about this morning he texted me back he thinks he found a place to do it cheaper, with a good reputation. Even if it’s just a few thousand cheaper, that’s still saving quite a bit of money.

that’s such a frustrating situation . A mix-up like that, especially with that big of a price difference. would stress anyone out.

I see from responses below that you heard from your dad and he might have found someone to do it cheaper. I'm glad you didn't write that check and hopefully all this work can be done soon and for a lot less.

Hope you're able to get this sorted soon. Lately, we haven't needed any work done and we'd like to keep it that way. We take much better care of our teeth than we ever used to.
