Did your parents have a couple names they oscillated between when they were trying to pick a name for you? My name is Amber, but they (my parents) were also thinking about naming me Elizabeth, which is my maternal grandmother’s name. I’m perfectly happy being Amber. My sister, Mindy, was almost named Connie. I think she prefers her name too.
What about you?

No, as a matter of fact, they hadn't decided on a name for me until I was born. Dad's oldest brother asked if they could name me after him so dad asked mom and she agreed, as a middle name, and then she asked what he thought about naming me Robert as a first name. Dad said whatever she wanted was fine with him.

I do like your name, and the alternative is such a pretty name too.
My mother wanted to name me Laurie Ann, but my Dad won that discussion as I am Julia Anne.
He insisted on the E in Anne because all of the previous Julia Anne's in the family (according to the gravestones) did not have an E on their name, so he wanted something different for his daughter.

I never heard of another name. I was named after the British actress Heather Angel, except mom said if you name a child "Angel" they will act like the devil. I am Heather Minuette, which was kind of a made up spelling for my middle name. Mom picked Heather and dad was responsible for Minuette.

My uncle wanted my mother to name me Ursula. I'm glad she didn't. I actually like my middle name more because there are too many Jessicas.

My parents name me diamond. I asked my mom why she picked diamond, it was one of the questions, she took longer to ask. Her choices were barbarosa and dominique,, i prefer diamond instead of barbarosa

My father wanted another boy as his youngest child. He expected it was a boy and he really thought I was a boy. He already had a name in mind, Antonio or Anthony. But I came out a girl. He wasn't disappointed. He was very happy and wrote my aunt a telegram that I was the most beautiful baby born in the hospital that day. He gave me one name only. And that's it.

I was almost named Sylvia, after my grandfather, Sylvanus. Fortunately, I got Alice, after my dad's mom, and my middle name is Evelyne, after my mom's mom. I'm actually quite surprised I got the ancestor names, since I'm actually the youngest of four kids. You'd think the eldest would get them. My two older sisters got names my parents just happened to like, I think.

I don't know anything about my parents' thought process when it came to naming me. Might have been the song "Linda" that was popular.

I'm told that I was named by my father. My mother told me that he had decided to name the baby " Jai Shankar" if it would be a male baby, and, in case a girl is born, he would call her "Sukanya."
I was born and named " Jaishankar". Two years later my sister was born and named "Sukanya." She is now married.

My mother said after the fact they wished they would have called me Paula Jean because it that would have included part of both of their names. It was on the table for a possible 3rd kid. They also said if I was a boy I would have been Scott or Larry Jay.

Both names are nice. I don't know if my mom had another name choices for me, she never told me anyway.
