I'm so glad I adjusted my disability a couple of years ago

Teachers in NJ aren't eligible for state disability. We have to buy private plans like Aflac. After my 3rd year of teaching I figured I had pressed my luck far enough and enrolled in a plan for both short and long term coverage. I was making like $40,000 at the time. A couple of years ago I significantly increased the coverage to try to catch up to my then-salary which was more than double the original amount. I was shocked by how much the amount taken out of my check increased but it had to be done. I was approved for long-term a couple of days ago. The amount that I will receive is roughly what I would take home in a given month. Phew. I won't have to worry about getting the bills paid this month.

I am so glad that you did that. A person just never knows what the future holds, and it's good that it's there for you in times like this.

Oh I’m so thankful that you have one less thing to worry about while you’re trying to get your gastric problems fixed!!

I'm glad you've got that. When I was still working, I did the same thing and never had to use it. I just wish it would cover me now that I don't work anymore.

I"m glad you're getting disability. As I mentioned before, have you ever considered retiring on disability? Of course you would make less than you're making now.

So you aren't back to work for a while or for the long term? I'm glad you have it covered, whatever your future is.
