Passover starts tonight

Passover starts tonight. It’s the first Seder. Usually the first Seder I spent with my husband at his uncle’s house. It was a yearly tradition. There were always a lot of people there. Mainly all family except for a few friends of his uncle. It’s bittersweet for me that I won’t be there anymore.
My mom called earlier in the day and asked me to come over for dinner tonight, but I declined because I’m not really in the mood to go anywhere. She called me back a little later and told me that her friend invited us to his house for the first Seder. I couldn’t really say no so change of plans. Perhaps it’s better that I’m not alone. Maybe my mood will get better. Plus, this will be the first time in probably a decade that I’m spending the first Seder with my mother.

@lovebuglena i'm glad you felt it like that. i've experienced not a lot people iniviting me to places; i used to invite myself but i got tired of that.

@lovebuglena As for me, I love spending time in my room alone. It is a space where I can explore my mind to certain things and be myself most of the time without inhibitions.

@LindaOHio people tell me to not wait and just file myself. But aside from the fact that I don’t know his address, which I need to be able to serve him the papers, he’s the one that left me so why should I be the one to make it official. I never wanted him gone from my life. I never wanted to leave him myself either. And I don’t get how he can just live his life as if I don’t exist and not even explain himself or tell me what his plan is with regard to us.

I miss the huge gatherings we had when the kids were all home and growing up, and before the loss of so many family members. It's hard, but we do treasure our memories of the people who have gone before us.

@lovebuglena So basically the Passover meal is considered the first Seder? And then there is another meal at the end or conclusion of Passover?

@moffittjc the first night of Passover is the first Seder. And the second night of Passover is the second Seder. I don’t know if there’s also a Seder at the end or not.

I don’t know the technical definition, but it’s a dinner where people celebrate Passover. There’s candle lighting and then certain things that have to be followed. There is a first Seder and a second Seder.
