Did You Know?

Many of us have pets and know that things like bug killers, chocolate, tea and coffee, and some house plants and flowers are poisonous to our animals. But, in reading I found some others I wasn't aware of and wondered if you folks were as well. Such things as grapes, raisins, NSAIDS-type medications, fabric softener, energy drinks, de-icing salt, metals, and marijuana. I knew some just by common sense but unsure on others. And, also, there is a Pet Poison Helpline you can call if not sure or if needing help. It is : 855-764-7661.

My fishies get fish food flakes and, once in a while, a piece of the fruit I'm eating at the time.

I have had dogs that loved grapes and never got sick. Most of my dogs didn't want them. De icing salt can be very dangerous. I just buy ice cream or rock salt. It works just as well without being dangerous

We used to give our dogs frozen grapes, not realizing that they were toxic. I'm so glad they didn't react to them.

Cats do not have the liver enzymes to handle essential oils, although many people say they are safe and natural pest repellers. Dogs seem to be able to handle them. On the other hand I have read more than one story about dogs getting sick from oil diffusers in the home.

When I was a kid all dogs were said to have iron guts. Now you can't feed them a single grape and I think onions upset them, too. I don't give my dogs any kind of bones now.
