We're going to light up the night sky

Tomorrow, we are heading to Nungarin, a small town in the West Australian wheatbelt. There is a large army museum there that I’ve written about before.
Among the hundreds of items is this searchlight which was operational during World War II. The museum was once an army camp and supposedly far enough away from any enemy airfields to be safe. I guess they had a searchlight just in case.
Every Easter, there is a gathering in the town and the searchlight is switched on to sweep the skies for anything sinister. We’ve now sold the motor-home but we’re staying one night in the hotel. We have the ‘queen suite’ but it still doesn’t have an en suite. We’re taking dressing gowns so we can toddle down the passage to the bathrooms.
We received an email last week asking us to confirm our booking as, because of the fuel situation, some people were cancelling. It’s not just the price of fuel that has people worried but the fact that some towns might have run out. So I’ll be away one day. Hopefully the hotel won’t be haunted.

But, you might enjoy sitting up all night visiting with a ghost! You never know what kind of life a ghost might have lived and the stories you could hear from one of them.
I hope you and Vince have a wonderful and safe trip.

Thanks for the good wishes. These old hotels would have so many stories to tell.
