Burned Out on Bacon

I'm thinking about giving up bacon.
Now I like bacon, don't get me wrong, but a couple of things have happened.
Two weeks ago I made some bacon in the microwave and I think it had spoiled. I had a terrible taste in my mouth for days. That is still fresh in my memory making me not want to eat bacon for a while.
Then @MarieCoyle here on myLot keeps telling me why too much bacon is bad for me and she's always looking out for my best interest, so I have to consider what she's saying is for my own good.
Finally I'm seeing some studies that say that too much processed foods like bacon can lead to colorectal cancer. Naturally I can find just as many studies that say it doesn't, so it's 50/50 in the medical community about whether or not to eat bacon.
But it might be time for a change. Wish me luck.

Hope you have success in giving up bacon. I've found a few things that once it's given me a bad taste I won't eat it again. Right now I'm struggling with canned tuna. I had a can and it just didn't taste right and now I'm entirely turned off at the thought of opening another can.
I have to agree with @MarieCoyle though that too much bacon isn't a healthy choice.

Good luck, bacon is not a health food. I don't think there is any real doubt that nitrates can cause cancer

I'm trying to not make too many changes at once because that's a recipe for failure and too overwhelming, but this one fits right now since I can still taste that bad bacon in my mouth.

Good luck giving up bacon …….i would be okay as we don’t have much at home , but if I went into a cafe and they were cooking bacon I would not be able to resist it.

I gave up bacon a long time ago. Pretty bought some two or three weeks ago and kept trying to talk me into cooking it for her. I dropped it in the trash.

@looeyville It’s too processed for me ( but dripping with flavour). With you being so limited in foods you can tolerate I hope you can find something new to rely on.

I love bacon made by locals but that is hard to find. I haven't eaten bacon in at least a year since I've been concentrating on not eating animals.

Bacon in moderation is OK. Too much bacon is too much sodium and too many processing chemicals. Good luck in finding something else. Does turkey bacon have less sodium and/or processing?

I didn’t mean to scare you,Lou. I have so many medical people in my family and they all talk about what nitrates can do to a person, so I have learned to try to stay away from them. I do think bacon is tasty, but for me it has to be a treat for my one or two BLT’s I allow myself in the summertime with a yummy homegrown tomato. It’s a smart move on your part. I know it’s very hard for anyone to change their eating habits. I hope you can get that nutritionist to help you through this.
