Off to London England

Not, me, however. My older son has to present at a law conference in London and planned to go with our DIL, but guess who talked her way in to tagging along? Our granddaughter read her planned to the minute, including walking, from one place to another itinerary to us. Two hours at one museum, 5 minutes at another just for one painting in particular, 7 minute walk from here to there, etc. I hope she can visit everything including getting me my favorite perfume from Harrod’s department store. They won’t ship it to me or anywhere in the USA. Her poor brother has school. So does she, but she’s a senior and is basically done with school. We, on the other hand, have a wedding to attend in Miami tomorrow. So excited to see friends from up north and dance the night away.

Oh, definitely! Waiting for hubs to return from shopping for himself for a change. I reminded him what special day it is and not to be late! Thank you. How can one not have a good time in London?

@DianneN — well, by accidentally going to London Kentucky instead of London, England?

@FourWalls I am laughing out loud right now for two reasons. First, what you just said, and secondly, my hubs just came home!

I hope your son will come back to the US within 6 weeks. If Hormuz Strait remains closed, all the airplanes in Europe will be landed, no more kerosene available.

I hope everybody has a great time both in England and in Miami. I have some good news I'll share with you. After I showered this morning, I went to get dressed and found out my jeans were falling off me. I found another pair of jean shorts two sizes smaller and they fit perfect!

Gosh everyone is off somewhere exciting! It's not that Harrod's has anything against you (or other Americans), but perfume is one of the prohibited items that cannot be sent through the post.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t realize that. Someone’s niece was in London and brought back a bottle of that perfume I loved. It’s long gone and hope I can get it again. Otherwise, I’ll give you a heads up when I am in London next time. Are you close to London?

About a month. As soon as she found out her parents were going and they agreed to let her skip school, she instantly researched everything, including restaurants and museums among all the sightseeing things she wanted to be a part of. I guess she’ll be eating two entrees at each restaurant as usual. At least we won’t have to pay for them.

I'm totally jealous. I've always wanted to tour the castles and palaces where monarchs like Queen Elizabeth I resided. I hope she'll have a fantastic time while there.

My best friend is in London currently, and he has been posting hundreds of photos on Facebook. I'm so envious, as it's been several years since I've last visited England. Too bad you couldn't have tagged along with your son, but I know you'll have just as much fun at your wedding in Miami!

I’ve only been there twice and would love to return. I’m not counting our third landing at Heathrow. That’s another story. Yes, the wedding was actually better than I anticipated. We had such a wonderful time. However, after being in Miami twice this season, I hope not to ever go again. So busy, so many people, so many cars, etc. We may have to go next year to visit my nephew. Hubs dreads it already

I don't think it's possible to allot five minutes to a museum, even if it is only to see one thing. Seems like all that time would be taken just getting inside, let alone finding the painting. I'll bet it's the Tate she's allowed two hours for. I hope her schedule is more flexible than it sounds, or she's going to be very frustrated. Have a great time at the wedding!

She actually hit everything on her list including the painting she wanted to see. She actually had the layout of the museum and knew exactly where to find it. . The National Museum? and the British Museum. She loved London and plans on returning to see more of it. I told her to take a few side trips to see Stonehenge, Bath, etc. Thanks! The wedding was wonderful and it was terrific to see so many friends from home. The traffic was horrible, but we made it with time to spare, thank goodness.

@DianneN oh whoops, I'm not paying enough attention to when these posts are published, lol. I'm glad she made it. The British Museum is well-known for looted antiquities, lol. The Tate is specifically just an art gallery, but it's one of the famous ones, like the Prado and the Louvre.

My best friend wanted to go to England. She wanted me to go with her since she has never flown before. She says she wanted to go because she saw an episode of the1000 lbs sisters going to England. But I think it was mostly because she thought she was talking an "actor" on facebook. She found out that the "actor" was a scammer. After that she decided that she didn't want to go because of airplanes were having accidents.

That looks too hectic for a holiday for your DIL and granddaughter. A bit tough for me when family tags along on occasions like presenting a paper at a conference. However, your son should be able to manage better I think. Enjoy the wedding celebrations.
