My gardening buddy must have been busy last Fall. Look at the flower that I found growing in one of my flower pots. It looks so exotic to me. Made me stop and stare. I think I have seen it in gardening books. I hope it grows all summer. I mowed for about twenty minutes this afternoon. My world has two more days of 70 degree afternoons before we return to rain and the 50's. Got to mow that hay while there is sunshine. Yes the grass was wet. I saw a very quick glimpse of a hummingbird zipping through my biggest apple tree's limbs. Its just starting to bloom pinky white flowers.

Wow! I thought at first that was a thistle flower until I noticed no spikes. What is that really? Mowing with the grass wet will hurt your mower. We're supposed to have several days of dry but chilly weather. I told Pretty we need to cut down last year's pampas grass soon. I told her I could do it with the hedge trimmer if she helps me get the long electric cord from the garage but she's insisting she'll use pruning shears to cut it back.

@sallypup It's still a pretty flower. I always liked thistle flowers, too. Mom taught me how to harvest thistle for the table when I was a kid. I would never call you stupid.... I'd just think you might not know about wet grass and machines.

@DaddyEvil Thank you. I feel like I should call you my brother. When the flower hadn't bloomed yet I thought it looked like a thistle. I know about wet grass and mowers. I just need to juggle my oomph ability and when the thick over grown grass might be driest.

@DaddyEvil Buddy got back to me. It is amethyst in snow- corn flower. I guess it is invasive in Canada. I want an entire meadow of the flowers. I know I am being stupid about how I use my mower. It just never seems to dry out at my house.

That’s truly beautiful,Lenore! What a wonderful surprise for you! We do have hummingbirds here but it’s a bit early for them still. They should start showing up in the next week or two. I always plant Lantana for them, they love it.

@MarieCoyle thanks. I think of May as the month for flowers in my garden. This April has been shocking but we never have had hard winter frosts like we should.

@sallypup That is a pretty flower. I knew it wasn't a thistle but it does look a bit like one.

@sallypup Things are behind here in blooming, etc. Unfortunately, most of the daffodils and hyacinths we all love to enjoy were pretty much nonexistent here this year as they didn't bloom, they did bud out of course but were all frozen solid. Well, there's always next year.

That is a lovely bloom, I can't wait for you to show us what it looks like when it's completely open.

@rebelann I will look at it again tomorrow. I think it is open. It might be a clumsy camera angle, too.
