Does your doctor work weekends?

My primary care (a nurse practitioner) is the first “doctor” I’ve ever had that saw people on Saturdays. Obviously, you can go to the ER or Urgent Care anytime you want, but seeing a regular doctor on the weekend is unusual here. So when the cardiologist called me today and told me she could get me in this Saturday, I was really surprised. I didn’t think specialists like a cardiologist would see people in office on the weekends. However, I’ll take it. I’m down to sleeping just about 14 hours a day instead of 18, but as soon as I can cut these symptoms out, the better. Do your doctors work weekends?

I wonder if its because she is a specialist and a lot of them do time at er and hospitals on weekends?

It's unusual for a doctor to work on Saturdays but certainly happy to hear that your cardiologist will see you on Saturday. Nope, my doctor doesn't work weekends (as far as I know).

Yes they do but only Saturday. Specialist clinics are open from Mondays to Saturdays here because people who go to work could only see them on Saturday. that's why. But if they have patients admitted in the hospital they do the rounds even on Sundays.

We usually have doctor's here until Saturday. They have schedules we can choose from. The clinics at the malls have doctora even on Sundays

Our Doctors is not open on a Saturday or Sunday ……so if you are ill at the weekend ….tough !

No. They have a receptionist who answers calls on the weekend but if you need to see somebody, they tell you to go to the ER.

Our clinic has doctors working on Saturday. I guess maybe just a couple at a time. I think the fee is a bit higher on Saturdays - and that's not cardiologists, just GPs.

No, not for the most part, although in son's case the one surgeon has come to the hospital on weekends to see him when he was critical. Here, there are hospital/ER docs, and then private ones...gone are the days that your doc makes his rounds with his nurse before going to his office to see patients...remember that? You had ONE doctor...and he came to you. I can't even imagine that, now.
