Was that you?

Just a little bit ago I got a text from an unknown number.
It said "How come your phone rings but you never answer? Have you blocked me?"
Now if I blocked a phone number, I would not get a text either, right?
I looked up the area code. It was actually from Canada.
I do not think I have given any of my Canadian friends my cell phone number.
If it was you, I am sorry.
More than likely it is another type of scam. I am not responding.
Just one more interesting part of my day.

MyLot is the only place I have Canadian connections, but I think they would message me here first.

I wonder if it's a wrong number. Wouldn't that be sad if this person has been trying earnestly to reach out to a wrong number?

It would be, but I have not gotten any calls from that number. Only the one text.

I got a new phone a couple of months ago but asked people on myLot to text me so I could put their numbers back in again.
I got one text from someone and they called me Robb. There are some people here who call me that but the person asked me if I was selling my house yet, so I knew that one was a scam. We rent instead of own this house.
Of course, I blocked the number. I wish it was illegal for scammers/spammers to contact us.

Probably would be hard to enforce. This one definitely was from Canada. It makes you wonder how they get your number. I know responding to them just confirms to them that it is a working number.

@GardenGerty I'm sure it would be hard to enforce but something needs to be done to cut down on spam/scams.
Yes, it does, that's why I just block them and move on.

That is what I thought. It had to be fake. I also know you are not in Canada.

This is the only place I have any connections from Canada, and I am pretty certain they would use myLot to contact me first.

In the spur of the moment you might feel guilty and reply. I thought twice, for sure.

Sounds very much like a scam to me. I think you did the right thing by not responding.
