We had a crazy, wild storm.

But....we are OK. I can't see any damage much as all the street lights are either out, or they have broken bulbs. And there is literally stuff all over the place that has blown in from who knows where--trash, yard ornaments, boxes, you name it, it more than likely flew by.
As you may have remembered, there are several lakes here very close by and we have a huge Canadian geese population. We heard a huge thump during the worst of the storm, but of course did not go outside to see what it was. We checked out the front door a little while ago, and there are several dead geese that didn't survive that horrible wind, and were evidently blown into buildings or objects and just couldn't survive. Usually, they hide themselves fairly well--but these birds didn't do that. One of the neighbors was putting them in a box and said he would call the Department of Wildlife in the morning. We are supposed to do that if we find any geese deceased. I just hope that none of them were parents--we have quite a few families with tiny baby geese right now.
Anyway, we are fine. That was a whopping bad storm, constant tornado warnings, etc. Thankful to be safe!

@MarieCoyle - We had rain, but not as bad as the warning we received. But it's very cloudy it could be rain again later.

Just some rain showers predicted for later today and then no rain for quite some time.

Sometimes we do not get what is predicted, but tonight we certainly did. I looked outside about an hour ago, and I can see items everywhere, tree limbs and trash cans and who knows what..it will take awhile to clean up tomorrow and the next few days. I am simply glad no one is hurt or deceased.

No one wants crazy winds or a tornado. Just glad it all worked out, thank you.

Glad that you are safe. We are expecting another storm here. Wild weather seems to be popping up all over.

@MarieCoyle It has been really loud, but nothing extreme. Thundering and raining again this morning. Hope it eases before we head to cardiac rehab.

It's raining again right now, but not a bad storm. I hope your storm wasn't bad, Marie.

Usually they are very good at hiding during storms. But the few that didn't make good choices just didn't make it on my street. They all have their little areas they like to hang out. I have one pair that check out my front porch every single day on their early morning ''walk'' down my street. Another pair seem to enjoy checking out my back patio area every day. The backyard pair currently has babies following them, I hope the mama led them to a safe haven somewhere.

Thank goodness you are okay. I feel horrible for those affected and for the poor geese. We had a horrible storm about a month ago. I haven’t seen Orville the osprey since then, which breaks my heart. Actually, we haven’t seen any of the birds we normally see every day out on the water at all!

@MarieCoyle He has a mate for life. Mrs. O.
He must know we’re leaving, because I saw him twice today. Thank heavens!

@DianneN oh, that’s wonderful, Dianne. He probably just stopped by to wish you safe travels!
I name wildlife at times, too. We have a new family of geese, they made their debut today, and have five babies. I named them..some won’t even get it or they may think it’s dumb but that’s okay. You know how fast baby birds grow? I named them “ The Five Little Peppers”

I’m sorry about Orville. Maybe he’s found a “friend!” We can hope for that.

It is sad that they did not get themselves hidden away safely. I also hope none of them are carrying avian flu.

There are always a few ''rogue'' geese when you have a large population of them. We have those...a few who thinks they can always be in the streets, sleep in someone's yard occasionally, or on a sidewalk if it's nice outside. We had one over the weekend that was swimming at the side of the road in a low place where rain water had settled. It kept raining so the water was there for several days. That goose stayed until all the water is gone. And we have a pond here, and two lakes. Sometimes, they are like silly humans, and do silly things.

I checked for the family with the babies about an hour ago, they weren't out there anywhere. But then I looked again awhile ago, and the parents were out there with all the babies. Evidently they sheltered in a good place! I haven't seen the other set that like the front porch, but they usually don't show up until late morning.

Thanks so much. We are glad. Poor wildlife often take the brunt of the bad weather.

That wind was incredibly strong. We were lucky to not have even more damage than we did in my area.

I have not seen the street walker goose. But maybe it did survive, there are so many and the only way a person can really tell them apart is by their families and numbers of babies following them around, and by their favorite spots.

I’ve seen all of the ones now that have their certain spots with the exception of one lone goose. The one missing is the one we call the street walker goose-always on the curb up at the corner. It hasn’t been seen since the storm.

Our sirens went on and on, it seemed to be for quite some time. Scary. And it was dark,as you say it makes it worse somehow.

@MarieCoyle Thanks for the info. It seems a lot of the USA suffers to some degree as I know Florida gets tornadoes too.

Storms don't usually scare me unless they get pretty terrible...here in the Midwest we get a lot of storms at times. But we are safe, and by some miracle there was no loss of life, which even the weatherman said was a miracle.
