How high is your gas today? Are you feeling pain at the pump?

Ours sure did shoot up today! . We are now at $4.49. To me, that's a LOT. To fill my small SUV, and yes, it is small, it's $60+ if it's empty. I know some of you drive huge vehicles and that probably seems cheap to you. But....just OUCH!!! Our gas prices shot way, way up today. Will you drive less if it continues? If war talk and unrest and uncertainty continue, gas is supposed to go even higher. I am already frugal with gas. I combine needed errands with appointments, etc. to avoid a second trip out. We use telehealth for the appointments we can, but many of son's appointments and procedures are hands-on. I keep the car well maintained. Honestly the only place I can think of we went that wasn't necessary in the last weeks and weeks was a birthday party for a friend who turned 90, and last Sunday for a much needed get-a-way to my daughter's, on the other side of the city I am close to. We have had several out-of-town appointments for son, but not excessive. I can't think of how else to cut back. Some things have to be driven to. And no, there is no bus that would work, not to mention that son is sometimes not in the best shape and doesn't need to be on a bus. We have to book the bus medical thing way ahead, and I have to go with him...and then if he is in no shape to ride the bus, it's just not happening. Have you tried to cut back on gas? Other than walking, which isn't feasible for us...got any great ideas? I didn't get a picture at the station, it was too rainy. This is an AAA picture.

Gas is going for $1.76/L here. The government took the gas tax off here which is 10% but nobody is policing it. The prices dropped for a day and then shot back up again. I haven't put gas in the tank if a very very long time, but I am sure that $60 would not fill our tank, and its a teeny tiny tank.

I should correct my post, up until the mess in Iran started, I actually could fill the tank for that. But not now. And here I am complaining and you have it way worse--from my calculations you are paying like $6.66 per gallon. That's a big ouch!

@MarieCoyle Yep, you could almost measure what we pay by the tablespoon, not htat a tablespoon of gas will take you far.

@Juliaacv I can see why you wanted to just have one vehicle. If one works well for you it makes no sense having another with everything so costly.

Would you believe I have never ever filled any of my cars myself? Growing up the car was filled by the gas station attendant. Now there are none that I know of, except in New Jersey. Hubs always fills the cars for me. Twice, I was in a pinch and asked total strangers to fill the cars. The prices seem to under $4.00 here as of Sunday when I happened to notice. I have no idea about CT, yet.

I remember the old ''fill 'er up!'' days, the attendants filling our car, rain or snow or whatever--we didn't even have to get out of the car. They checked the oil, would check the air in our tires, and wash the windshield. We didn't know how good we had it!! Not to be negative, but usually New England's prices are comparable to mine, so...

Gas today was $3.38 a gallon. I don’t go many places, but my dad fills up my tank once a month. Have you ever heard of the app, Upside? I genuinely don’t know if it would help, but you could look into it.

George and I fill up our tank once every couple of trips. He never lets it get more then under three quarters. He also taught me to fill it in a way we we get extra fuel. It's nard to explain, but we always put just over three gallons in it more or less. Priceses are actually down quite a bit at the pump we use, too.

@MarieCoyle I think it's mostly due to where we live, too. I've noticed our priceses will drop, when other states are seeing a rise. I guess it's where we get our gas from. A month ago, it was well over four dollars/gallon, but when we filled up last week it dropped to 3.85/gal.

Here it is more expensive, we pay EUR 1,90/Liter than in gallon and in US$ means US$ 8.40

@MarieCoyle - Europeans do not drive so many miles as you do in the United States, but the price of gas now is horribly expensive and this thanks to Trump.

@LadyDuck Yes, everything here iwhere I live is just too far apart to walk to, unfortunately. And yes, what one world leader does can affect everyone in the rest of the world. It hurts.

@MarieCoyle — not at all. Ex-sister-in-law had a wreck, and I thought my niece would get my car and give her old one to her mom. Turns out ex-sis-in-law doesn’t want to drive anymore after the wreck. But I did tell my doctor yesterday that I look like a stinking genius, because the availability and price of hybrids will probably be changing dramatically.

I am glad you got the new car. Did you have a premonition the price of gas was going way up?

I will see what they are today but heard last night it has went up again. We don't drive a lot anyway so it's hard to cut back. Maybe I should get George horse harness trained.

Better check with George first. He probably charges by the yard rather than the mile!

I can understand that it would be well nigh impossible for you to cut back on fuel. We are trying to use the car less and to only go out when we have to.

Well, I know prices are sky high there, as most places. However, The Mister gets fuel paid for through his job, so at the moment we don’t really have to think about the prices,…..we know we are very lucky !

We're glad here the gas prices is started to lower but yes mostly everyone learned to save up gas as much as possible. Lessen unexpected travel that isn't important.
