Am I going crazy?

Sometimes we do things that make us question our sanity. I was sitting in the car after my mom’s friend dropped me off at my house. I turned on the light and went into my handbag in search of the house keys. Instead of the keys, I took out my manicure set and proceeded to open the zipper on it. It is only when I opened the zipper and saw what was inside that I realized these are not my keys. Good thing I didn’t actually take out the scissors or the tweezers from there thinking that’s what I need to open the door. That would have been even worse. I closed the zipper and put the manicure set back into my bag. And again proceeded to look for the keys. This time I actually took the keys out. This is the first time something like this has happened. I’ve had other instances where I went into my wallet to get my credit card or sometimes my transit card instead of the keys when I wanted to open the door.

Welcome to normalcy, Lena! You are like the rest of us. We may not go for a manicure set, but it would be something similar.

I remember one time I picked up a remote control about to dial someone’s number. And one time I actually took out my keys instead of the transit card when I had to go through the turnstile in the subway.

I have never gone to that point. But I have given another card instead of my credit card when I am paying several times.

@lovebuglena And I have an OCS about keys. I check them maybe 4 or 5 times if I have them inside my purse when I go out.. Crazy!

Yes, yes, you have gone off the deep end. That's what you get when you carry around a full duffel bag and claim it's a "purse".

@lovebuglena My first wife carried around a suitcase claiming it was a purse... I HATED waiting for her to finally dig something she needed out of that thing. It took forever!

@DaddyEvil my bag is not big enough to work as a suitcase.

My bag is big and it’s always hard to find something I need in there. And even when I have a small bag, I still find myself with the same issue.

I prefer in a handbag has different pockets of compartments. My longchamp bags don’t really have that. There is one pocket, but that’s for flat things.

Old age can sometimes lead to moments of confusion. For example, while intending to do one task, a new idea might suddenly arise, drawing attention away from the original plan. This can result in forgetting the initial task, only to remember it later. It is not a sign of madness, but rather a reflection of how easily our minds can be distracted by the many thoughts that emerge, leading us away from what we originally intended to do.

These things happen. When I was a girl scout, I brought my toothbrush instead of a flashlight when we went star gazing.

It's easy to do something like that if you are a bit distracted.

I’ve tried to take something out of my bag while talking many times and this is the first time something like this has happened.

It happens. I reach for the wrong thing on occasion. I don't think you have to worry unless it happens all the time.

I'll have to start a discussion one of theses days about my lunacy. Its a really odd one but I guess we all have our own bit of sanity.

Makes things more interesting when we do something crazy sometimes.
