Why do you have a pet? Or, why don’t you?

I have loved animals, especially dogs, since I was a child. As much as my parents didn’t particularly desire a dog, they grew to love my dogs too (my mom made a dog friendly cake for Charlie, my dad tried to get Sherlock to nap with him - yes, MY dad). I wanted to give love to an animal, and I knew a dog would be good for me. On past days of deep depression, the only thing that would get me out was to walk the dog. I know a lot of my neighbors (that’s not always bad) because you encounter other dog walkers. Obviously, pets can lower our blood pressure, keep loneliness at bay, but they’re just so precious I can’t imagine living without one again. Of course, people without pets would mention dog and cat waste, but hopefully, no one has a real problem with that.

We don’t have any pets, but , as you know , I would dearly love a dog. However, with our lifestyle it just would not be fair to have a dog at the moment. I truly believe that they are part of the family. I know it will happen one day.

I don’t because I have allergies. But I did despite the allergies. I’m also gone too long and too much to have a pet…wouldn’t be fair to them.

If you don't have time, energy and money to spend on pets, I believe it's better not to have them. I don't have pets but I do get cats and dogs visitors and they are treated respectfully.
