The iconic Busselton Jetty

I mentioned Busselton jetty in my last discussion. The morning after our wining and dining trip to Bickley Valley, we went to the Brass Band Championships in Perth and enjoyed listening to some more great music. One of the bands competing was the Busselton Brass Band. An iconic feature in Busselton can be seen in the upper photo of the collage. The four little structures act as a tourist information centre. Tickets are sold for the Underwater Observatory which is situated at the end of the jetty and there is a great variety of giftware, including many items featuring the four buildings. I took a photo of the Busselton Band’s logo and, as you can see, they’ve used the four buildings in their design.

Sounds like an interesting area. I haven't heard a brass band in a long time.

The day included concert bands (brass and woodwinds) and there was a total of 19 bands playing over the two days.

Busselton was once a sleepy coastal town but it buzzes now, especially during summer.

There were 19 concert and brass bands that played over the two days. We might try to spend more time there next year.

Those little houses look cute. Good idea to use them as a tourist information centre.

They appear on postcards, tea-towels, all sorts of tourist memorabilia. As soon as you see the little houses, you immediately think of Busselton.

Thanks. Our niece plays in three bands and holds office positions in several. She is a very hard worker as regards the banding community.

They are interesting little buildings, I can imagine how they draw the people in. I found a little ceramic set of buildings like that years ago and gave them to my DIL, she has them on the window sill over the kitchen sink. Maybe the were inspired by these buildings.
