When You Discover Gold

Well, not literal gold, but ice cream gold. The hottest new treat at Disney World right now is a cold delight only available at one ice cream stand in Animal Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
This delectable delight is called the chocolate chip cookie dough brownie ice cream bar. It starts with a brownie base, then a layer of vanilla ice cream, and then topped with a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough. And it's no small ice cream bar either, it is about 6 inches long, 3 inches wide, and about an inch thick. Perfect for a hot Florida day at a packed theme park.
Think waiting 1-2 hours in a queue to get on a thrill ride at Disney is bad? Trying waiting that long in line to get one of these ice cream bars! Yep, since its introduction it has been the hottest selling treat at Disney and people will line up for hours to get one.
We had a strategy on my birthday. We got to the theme park early before opening (affectionately called rope drop), and while everyone else sprinted towards the most popular rides when the park opened, we sprinted to the ice cream stand. And promptly bought 8 of them!
Would you eat this delicacy if you could get your hands on one?
What is a favorite treat that you would wait forever to buy?

Yes I would, simply because I know how hot it is in Florida. However, I am not sure I'd risk my heat tolorance and health for it. Waiting in line for a ride isn't THAT bad if you've done it enough times, but we're animals after all, food is its own beast.

The one good thing is that the area of the park where this particular ice cream stand is has lots of trees and shading, so it's not too bad waiting in line. But that cold ice cream sure hits the spot on a hot day!

@kaylachan The only thing that could compete with ice cream on a hot summer day is an ice cold popsicle!

Ooh, wow. The only problem is that it would probably melt in the Florida heat before you could indulge in all of it.

@JudyEv I don’t even want to know how many calories are in each one. I’m sure it’s more than I need. But, as they say in the theme parks, “There’s no calories in any of the food at Disney!”

@moffittjc Oh WOW!! I wonder how many calories are in one! But it's best not to count calories when it comes to desserts.

I looked it up, as I am always curious. It does sound delicious, but sort of, well...too much? But knowing you, probably not, I know you love treats.
It evidently sells at 2 spots in the park.
''You can find this massive treat at two locations in Disney's Animal Kingdom:Terra Treats: Located on Discovery Island, just near the Tree of Life. This is the original spot, but lines can get long.Ice Cream Cart near Creature Comforts: Located just across from the Creature Comforts Starbucks on the way out of Discovery Island. This stand was added to help ease lines and is often a great alternative if the wait at Terra Treats is too long.''

I predict a summer of you going there every weekend for an ice cream treat!

Oh wow, it’s nice that they added a second selling location. Funny that they put it next to the second longest line in the theme park: Starbucks!

Well, ice cream and coffee are a good combination...and of course they have people who do nothing but decide what goes where for the highest sales. But at least this gives you an option of two places to get your ice cream treat!

I imagine the lines won’t be so long after the novelty wears off and Disney introduces a new treat that becomes all the rage.

Yes, I'd take a bite of it, at least... I'm not fond of cookie dough ice cream but Pretty LOVES it... I'd take a bite of hers if you brought her one of them.
I just copied the picture and sent that to her.

It would certainly be satisfying on a hot summer day!
Usually my "go-to" cold treat at Disney World is a Dole Whip, but I couldn't resist trying one of these ice cream bars since they are all the rage right now at Disney.

It was really really good, but I don’t know if I would ever stand in a long line for it, especially in the heat of summer.

I'm not a huge fan of ice cream anymore these days. If I have something at all, 9 times out of 10 it's a simple chocolate malt. But that seems like an ice cream bar made in Heaven. Brownies, cookie dough and chocolate? That's my language and one hell of a marriage.

I'm not a huge fan of ice cream either, since I'm lactose intolerant. But sometimes exceptions are made, and this was one of those occasions. There really wasn't as much ice cream in the product compared to the other ingredients, so for me it was worth a try. I ended up eating two of them, and for the most part the ice cream in the bar didn't really affect me that much. But man that cookie dough was delicious!

@porwest I will definitely get those ice cream bars again next time I’m at Disney, especially since the ice cream didn’t give me the squirts.

Exactly! I wouldn’t either. But when you have an opportunity right when the park opens, you take it!
