@ineeddentures If I had a spare £2000 that was crying out to be spent it wouldn’t be going on something that would be cockerpooing all over my carpets.

Lol haha But seriously My dad bred rough collies and Shetland Sheepdogs And he didn't like Mongrels He would be turning in his grave if he knew how much money a cross bred poodle/ cocker spaniel costs to buy now.

In my world dogs and cats generally just turn up, it seems weird to pay for them. But then I live in the past

@Ineeddentures When I was a child my parents took me for an outing for my 6th birthday and we came home with a kitten. We weren't at all prepared so it was lucky we didn't have a long drive because it walked back and forth on the dashboard as my Dad drove home. When I was 12 my Mum sent me to the village shop for something and I came home with a dog! And the most amazing thing (looking back) was that although she was rather strict about a lot of things she didn't actually object to that!!

There are plenty of lovely cats and dogs at the shelters waiting to be adopted. Why should I pay for a dog?

@Ineeddentures - People should adopt animals left in shelters, there are also pure breed dogs there.

Exactly. I have no idea why anyone would want to pay so much for a dog.

@LadyDuck We do need to ease the pressure on shelters so getting an animal from a shelter is the way to go. Give a donation, help the shelter

My son is willing to pay $2K for a fancy cat and he hasn't said yet about the dog down the road. I paid out years ago for my pure shepherd.

@Ineeddentures No, but he has his own business and tries to pay cash for everything. He doesn't buy a lot for himself, so I told him, get what he wants and not settle. A problem he is finding, they have a huge waiting list. We may wind up with two kittens from the rescue.

@noni1959 Two kittens from the rescue will be just as good as a 2k fan y cat I think

@MommyOfEli2013 Both those amounts are a lot lol I wouldn't pay that unless a dog rescue place wanted it as a donation

Cute yes But not £2k cute

Not just no but HELL no. All these designer breeds are creating more and more problems with pet overpopulation .... as if human over population ain't enough.

All the genetics stuff was done centuries ago when ranchers and farmers needed a way to protect their lifestock from predators @Ineeddentures but rotty and dachshund makes no sense at all, why the hell would anyone want a guard dog crossed with a hyper small hunting breed is beyond me, it makes no sense. Come to think of it none of those designer breeds make sense.

I totally agree Plus I just don't like messing around with genetics like this It's got silly now I believe someone tried to breed a rottweiler daschound cross How bloody stupid is that

@Ineeddentures The most I ever gave for a dog was 300 for a wolf dog. I have never worried about papers on my dogs either.

@JudyEv The pets aisle is one I don't go near in the supermarket. I get the cat treats from our local Lidl. They don't have a pet aisle, just a small section

No, I won't. I won't pay for a dog or a cat for a dog or a cat. I can't take care of them and I won't like to keep a poor animal suffer due to my carelessness

I did pay a reasonable price for Luna as I wanted a German Shepherd. But she is no royalty, just a lovely nice tempered girl who is useless as a watch dog.

Nothing wrong with paying a reasonable price Marga A German Shepherd should be a good watch dog but I'm guessing she gets petted a lot lol
