While I finish my yummy chicken barbecue sandwich (thankfully without that South Carolina mustard sauce ) I’ll give you another song on my list of favorites from the long and storied career of Paul McCartney, who’ll be 84 years old next week. Paul’s a vegetarian, so he’s still got a lot of vitality in him. Here’s another favorite of mine. Listen to What the Man Said (Wings) This was Paul’s fourth post-Beatles #1 hit in America; and, as I pointed out earlier, all under different names on the label. “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey” was “Paul & Linda McCartney,” “My Love” and “Band on the Run” were as “Paul McCartney and Wings,” and this one was just “Wings.” By the way, since we have a love song here (McCartney? Doing a love song??? ), this might be a good time to explain the name of the band. McCartney said in the 70s (I have to clarify that because so many people change their stories as the decades roll by) that, when daughter Stella was born, Linda developed complications during the labor and delivery. Paul was rushed out of the delivery room while they did a C-section on Linda. He said while he was waiting for news after the sudden medical emergency he was praying and thinking about angels’ wings. One more little factoid: the voice at the beginning, saying, “all right, okay, very good to see you down in New Orleans again” is not Wolfman Jack, nor is it Doctor John. It’s Paul. He said he was impersonating The Meters’ guitarist Leo Nocentelli. So now you know! Listen to What the Man Said Written by Paul and Linda McCartney From Venus and Mars (Wings), 1975 For all we know our love will grow:

I remember this song but not the spoken bit. Probably because I heard it on the radio and they no doubt cut it off or talked over it.

I admit to liking this song. Although, apparently he missed out on a golden opportunity by failing to release a solo album under just "Wing."

chicken barbecue sandwich That does sound good to be fair. Did you not get indigestion caused by talking about McCartney after eating
