Quality Control

Yesterday we had alot of fun with Willow and Harper. In the morning we were busy at the organized playgroup. After a couple of hours there, we let them play with their friends in the nice playground afterwards. It was really a lovely day, mid 20's and a nice breeze. A great change from the high 30's and humid which we had earlier in the week. In the afternoon me and the girls chilled together for an hour or so relaxing together while Grandpa replaced the top of their mud kitchen outside on their deck. Afterwards, we made a batch of blueberry muffins. They love to do that. They can crack an egg really well without making a mess. They both love to take turns stirring the batter, and pouring it into the muffin cups. Afterwards, as most children do, they love to lick the batter from the spatula. What kid doesn't? But I really think that she may have a future in quality control. ~Photo is mine

I should make muffins for tomorrow morning, I bought small jam tarts last week, but home made is always better. This is a great photo.

They prefer the blueberry muffins over any other flavour. Willow can even tell you that the blueberries contain antioxidants and how beneficial they are to our bodies. We've tried our hardest to convince them that blueberries are nature's chocolate chips but healthier, and I think that she's bought into that concept.

@Juliaacv - I also love blueberries and I used to make blueberry muffins. Now my husband seems to have problem with no matter which little seed he finds. I had so enough to see him stop eating because of seeds that I stopped making blueberry muffins.

@LadyDuck I can understand that. Have you tried baking with apples at all? I wonder if he would be able to tolerate those.

I have a picture in an album of their Daddy sitting on the kitchen cupboard licking the beaters from the mixer at about their age, more chocolate smeared on his cheeks than you can imagine.

Is that why Vince enjoys doing the cooking at your place?

job well done! Well, not only kids does that. Hahaha I and my brother's can't help to lick from spatula too. Out of the habit as kids but we only does it in our own kitchen that everytime we are being caught my mother tease and tells us if we are working in a kitchen we might lost the job as cook.

My DIL used to be a minimalist but she's changed over the years and likes some pretty funky looking things on occasion. And of course the girls love that kind of thing.

Oh, yes licking the bowl was always the best. I loved my grandmother's cake batter.

My Gramma used to refer to herself as 'Scotch' and therefore a bit tight, and there was never every any batter left in her mixing bowl. I think that she just did not like to see me licking things and sticking my tongue out.

It really was a fun day. We made plans for next Thursday. I told them that I would bring a big piece of bristol board, and we can fold it in half and use it as a card for Father's Day. I will have them glue some muffin papers in a row and put faces on them and bodies under them for their parents and themselves. I thought that they would love doing something like that.
