Bob's creatinine is not getting any better, really, but it is also not getting worse. The hospitalist says "kidney injury takes a long time to heal".
Bob's hemoglobin is coming up.
His O2 sats are good.
The infection is gone according to lab work.
He still gets really confused. Sometimes agitated. The hospitalist says sometimes hospital is not where someone belongs. Bob would be better at home. He does not need any medical interventions I cannot supply. I just need to encourage him to eat, move around and enjoy the outdoors. I do have to restrict salt, potassium, and animal fats.
So unless he spikes a fever now that he is not on antibiotics, he will go home with me tomorrow.
The cats will be pleased. Me, too. I hate how much time I have been spending in the car and how much money I have been spending on gas.
I have bought him a bird feeder and seeds for coming home from the hospital. He has been watching the various birds out his window in the hospital and he will really enjoy this.
A couple of weeks ago we saw a sandhill crane standing on the side of the highway. I doubt they would come to the feeder.

Oh, how I pray he can go home AND that he'll heal without having to go on dialysis.

I hope things go better for him at home this time around.
I'd love to have a bird feeder where I could watch the birds, too.

I am sure he will be much more comfortable at home in his own bed. I know what you mean about the back-and-forth thing to the hospital...it gets so tiring, as well as expensive. When son is in the hospital, it's the same--a lot of gas, and of course a lot of worries. Hang in there, and I hope he gets the green light tomorrow morning to go home!
