A day in the city

I didn’t feel like sitting home yesterday, so I met up with my mom at the Staten Island ferry and we went to the city (Manhattan). The temperatures were not that bad, but it was super humid and stuffy.
I got to the train, which is about a 27-minute walk or so, only to find out that trains weren’t running. There were shuttle buses, but I didn’t know their schedule. I also didn’t feel like waiting for one so I walked further down to a city bus that would take me to the ferry. Counting the time it took me to get to the bus, I walked close to 40 minutes since leaving the house. It was a bumpy ride and I ended up missing the ferry by one minute, which was very disappointing.
Once we got off the ferry, we walked to Battery Park City. We stopped by Le District for some crêpes. Then we went to walk by the water. Afterwards, we went to Whole Foods and then made our way home.
It was raining while we were in the city, but it wasn’t heavy rain so I didn’t mind that. Even though it was humid and stuffy and rainy, it was still better than sitting home I think. Although I will say that while I was walking home from the bus—thankfully this one was about a 20-minute walk—I felt very tired. And it seemed to be even more humid.
A block away from my house I saw something shiny on the ground. I looked down and it was a dime. I picked it up and as I was ready to stand up straight, I saw another dime there. That was a nice surprise.

That's nice that you were able to spend time with your Mom and get out and about.
The humidity is exhausting. I can't stay out in it for too long or it just wipes me out.

Can’t win in the summer. Hot and humid or just humid is not good. But neither is sitting at home all day.

Maybe you could work part time somewhere? Would that help to fill the empty hours?

I am glad you have your mom to spend time with. You seem to have a knack for finding coins. Humidity seems to be bad this year.

Lately yes. But usually I don’t really come across any coins except maybe pennies.

You found some more money. You remind me of my daughter. She finds bills on the ground quite often.
Sounds like a nice day.

I am not lucky enough to find actually paper money. Usually only coins and most of the time it’s pennies.

I hate wandering the streets. If there’s no purpose to my going outside I don’t venture out, especially if it’s hot.
