As Good As It Gets

Today we were slow at work.
I took off early this afternoon. Grandpa and the girls came to pick me up so that we could spend the afternoon together.
We made a stop at the grocery store, they are out of ice cream at our son's place. The girls cannot go without their afternoon ice cream cones, so we picked up a pail for them.
Harper spied some ice cream sandwiches through the glass door, so I looked and they had neapolitan flavoured, which is what they get for ice cream, so we bought a box of those as well. The girls were so happy as it was a warm afternoon.
Grandpa got the gadget out to pump up the little inflatable pool in their backyard, then he filled it and the girls went for a dip. Actually Willow just did a stand, water out of the hose is very cold, and she did not want to sit down in it. Harper was all over the pool and got herself cooled right down.
We came home and decided that it was a no-cook supper night. We hauled out some wraps, cheeses, deli meats, condiments and lots of fresh veggies to stuff our wraps with. It was delicious. Today was about as good as it gets.

Thanks, it was alot of fun.
the girls were such little chatter boxes in the car on the way over to pick up ice-cream. Of course they did not even know that we were going to get ice-cream, but when we get in the car, I always pass each of them a ziplock baggie with fresh apple slices in it, and they were munching on those and giggling and telling me things and singing. it sounds like alot from 2 littles, but they were in rare form yesterday.

It was alot of fun.
I just have today and tomorrow to work, and then I am on holidays for a week, which I will spend with my hubs and the girls. We normally go away when I am off during July, but this year our son and his wife's vacay schedule didn't line up with mine. So I'll have a staycation.

Is Neapolitan flavour the one we call Harlequin? An ice cream composed of three flavors. We had a very hot afternoon, a very warm wind started to blow and the temperature reached 37 C, that is an all time record. This morning is fine. You had a very lovely day.

Your day sounds like it was a lot of fun. Being with the girls, ice cream, a pool and a no-cook dinner certainly can't beat it.

I don't like it near as cold as the water was, a little warmer would have been less of a shock and more refreshing. Willow loves it when Daddy helps her get out to the sandbar at the lake, and then she can stand there and within a few steps go from ankle deep water to chest deep water, and that she likes it in between as the water gets too cold where it is deep. Her Daddy explained to her that there is a drop off there and that water is very cold.
