Dying my hair again or going back to my natural one? What would you do?

I still have one hair colour box here but i am reluctant to open it. It's a dark blonde colour, which highlightens my blue-green eyes more or jsut blue eyes (sometimes i feel there is some green it). My natural hair colour is light chestnut and as a child, i was blonde but my hair turned darker.
Next year in February, i'm turning 40 and i kind of want to start aging naturally but i am afraid cause, these small changes can freak the person out.
Especially me, who is afraid of every possible change but, looking for a teacher job, i think my looks shouldn't be everything. I would still use my concelear, eye shadow and mascara now and then but is it due to long summer days but i kind of don't want to dye/colour my hair anymore.
Will i start looking older or just the same, it's hard to tell.
If i decide not to dye it anymore, it will be an interesting journey. I started wondering when and why did i start dying my hair. I think i've experienced enough colours with my hair but yes, still afraid will i look messy or i will still look pretty.
Yes, i've mentioned that i hope my looks isn't everything but we, humans, all have some small percent of vanity in ourselves.
What do you think? Do you still dye your hair?

I personally think that natural hair color is best. I dye my hair now because I've got lots of white streaks already. My husband dyed my hair a few days ago.

thank you for your advice. i have some small whites or silver ones near my forehead but i think they are not that visible or i'm fooling myself

i have some small white near my forehaead and according to one mean hairdresser from last year but i'm ignoring that. i'll grow it first, you're right and thank you

I'm 48 and I haven't dyed my hair in tour years I think. No white hair yet. And currently don't have any plans to dye my hair. I used to dye it quite often with different colors and styles as I get bored easily with the same hairstyle.
That's why I wanted to give my hair a rest from too much styling and leave it naturally. I might dye it someday maybe, but just not now.
so it's really up to you wha you want.

i have maybe some tiny whites at front, near my forehead and according to one hairdresser, which i hated but i think it's not that visible. you said it correctly;hair needs some rest. i'll also might change my mind but for now, i'm not dying it. thank you.

@LadyDuck i hate those between the lines comments and he was kind of my superior but that wasn't profesional at all. i was a new face but some men think they are funny. yes, rude too.

i'm glad you stopped cause it should be your choice, not what society dictates and so on. i remember one terrible comment at one job that one man said that women dye their hair so it's hard to tell how old they are. i mean, and why is that relevant. ah

You could actually not dye it and see if you like it as it grows out and if you don't then you can always dye it again.
I dyed my hair for years and swore I would never not dye it but then I reached a point where it was just a pain so I stopped. My hair, like yours, just got a bit darker than my natural blonde so it wasn't that much of a difference.

i won't dye it for now. the hair colour box is still there but in the dark for me, it's also a pain a bit cause, i was dying it alone and yes, i got bored as well. thank you.

I quit about four years ago. I was using henna and it was a long process for me. I have earned every gray hair I have. In your shoes, however, I probably would go ahead and color one more time, because you have the product on hand. And you want to look fresh when applying for the job. Once you have it, gradually let the hair color vanish.

I don't dye my hair anymore and it is freeing. However, you need to do what makes you feel confident and beautiful.

it all depends how we feel but i think the society also should lt women age how they want. there are still doublee standards that we look older if we keep natural hair colour while men are always good looking.

I'm 46 will be 47 in February. I still dye my hair. I just dyed it a chocolate cherry color. I like it. I hope to dye it again in Dec with a dark purple color.

i got lazy too and it's hard doing it on my own. in the past, my mum helped me but not anymore and i don't want to give my money to hairdressers, who are so expensive.

well, men can dye their hair too (especially bollywood actors) but, i approve your choice cause, it's the best to keep it natural
