What makes you decide to sign up for a streaming service?

I was just wondering what makes you sign up for certain streaming services. Is it mainly for original shows or old shows from decades past? I signed up for Hulu because it had several shows from the 90s on it. I get Paramount+ for free because it goes with my subscription to Walmart+. I don’t actually watch Paramount+ at all. I have Amazon Prime for like six bucks due to qualifying for a Prime discount. I can cover that easily by just doing surveys. But I only watch that because it has Thursday Night Football. Streaming in general is cheaper than cable unless you’re signing up for every streamer. They have plenty of free ones too.
How about the lesser known streamers? Does anyone have Hallmark+ or Britbox?

Hulu is good for that....I like it because they have some current shows too, like my 911, and Doc. Wish they'd get Chciago med though lol.
We have that, and we pay for Lifetime Movie Club because we like lifetime movies lol. Annoyed though that they started adding shows, boo lol

@MommyOfEli2013 That they added shows and you don’t like that. Most people want that! At least I think!

I always say I'm a parasite. I get my internet, YouTube TV, Netflix, HBO Max, and Apple Music from my sister, ex, and a coworker. The only thing I pay for is Amazon Prime with the Starz app.
I am interested in Britbox b/c I'd like to see that show about Mary from Pride & Prejudice but I'm not going to sign up for just one show.

I only have Amazon Prime, and that was for the shipping on orders. How much does a subscription to Walmart + cost and what does it get you besides Paramount+? So did you go watch Sheep Detectives yet?

It costs $12.95 a month or half of that per month if you get food stamps, LIHEAP, or Medicaid. It gets me free delivery, free shipping, money back on gas, deals from Burger King, and free Paramount+ OR Peacock.
Now, I don’t use Burger King, and my dad does my gas, but I have used the free delivery and shipping. And yes, I loved The Sheep Detectives!

The first time I had Netflix many many years ago it was still too cheap. Less than $5 a month. And I got hooked with the tv shows so I have Netflix until now.
With HBO, it's because of the Game of thrones.
When Apple TV was first launched, I had it for free for one year. and since I love all their original shows, I still have Apple TV until now.

The only “service” I’ve signed up for is MLB (Major League Baseball), where I can watch any game or listen to it, plus a large archive of games. That cost $139 a year, or about 2/3 of what a month of cable was costing me per month. I have no streaming services. There’s Samsung Plus on my smart TV (which is, obviously, a Samsung), and it has a ton of stations for free. It has Mystery Science Theater 3000 and four weather channels…what more could I want?

I signed up for Peacock to watch the Tour de France and other races, but after a couple years of it constantly freezing and kicking me out of the race, I just cancelled and watch highlights on You Tube now. Same thing happened when I signed up to Altitude + so I could watch Avalanche games. It was so bad I cancelled. I'd rather listen to the game on the radio.

i have tried Netflix. but it's quite boring for me. there's not too many movies and shows I'm interested to watch in Netflix. i just watched some. and some Korean movies also then i unsubscribed.. i got tired of Korean movies and dramas. so nothing interest me. that's why I stopped paying for netflix
i have cable channel. i only watch cnn and local channel for news. too bad there's no fox channel on this .. cable channel is included already on my internet plan. but i pay an extra $2 monthly for the cable channels to my internet plan.
i just watch YouTube only most of the time. I'm not interested watching old movies from the 90s that I used to love in the 90s. it does not bring any excite or interest me to watch them again like I used to before

I'm definitely the wrong person to ask about this! We have never signed up for any streaming service. We also never used cable, or satellite. All those things have completely passed me by. Sometimes I feel as if I live in a parallel universe!

Since I started with streaming I haven’t experimented very much, have tried a few that offered a free trial, etc in the past. Now that the free Hulu and Disney + are free with my internet service, I went with that. We added Sling as it’s free. We are going to add Tubi because it’s free, too. So right now the grand total of what I am paying for streaming services is zero, and we have plenty to watch.

Usually just some kind of special price or show I am dying to watch. I signed up for Hulu a couple of times because there were shows I wanted to watch in there. I don't have it now though.
