Should parents let pre teens wear make up/fake tan/false nails?

There is a debate on tv at the moment about children wearing make up and using cleansing products that are made for adult/older skin.....
As you know my Granddaughter goes to dance classes and does competions..
She regularly has spray tans and false nails and wears lots of make up when competing.....
This concerns me as she is just 10 years old and her nails aren't fully developed and I don't think she should be added chemicals to them as the nails can be damaged.
Likewise I think her skin isn't developed enough for fake tan ....I don't really like it for adults either ....
Plastering a child's face with make can't be good for the skin ..
I worry about the damage being done to a child's body, skin and nails ....
Although my Granddaughter does this for competitions, there are many other young children who do this as part of every day life ....
Anyway, what do you think ....?

@snowy I do so agree .... unfortunately her Mom has it all done too ....I worry able the damage to skin and nails but also I do think it looks silly on a young child.

Personally, I think 10 is a bit young to be doing any of this. I also think that a girl who is 15 or 16 might be able to do these things. It depends on the cost and if they get an allowance. It could be good for teaching them how to spend their money.

@LadyDuck ...it's a constant thing. I think it's too much ....even when not in competitions she has it done as her Mom does.

Leave the choice to them after letting them know about the pros and cons of fake glamour.

I bought Pretty makeup when she was 13 and asked for some. I made sure it was made for the skin of a teenager and was oil-free and non-comedogenic. She rarely wears makeup or perfumes although I bought her good perfumes when she was a teenager, too. I didn't buy her fake nails until she asked for some just before she went to college.

I guess if they want to compete they have to keep up with the others but I don't think it's a good thing.
